This position supports manufacturing operations by ensuring molds are installed correctly, production equipment is operating efficiently, and quality standards are consistently achieved.\nThe Mold Technician works with injection molding machines ranging from small to large tonnage presses and collaborates with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nPerform mold changes on injection molding machines of varying tonnage capacities.\nSafely remove, install, and secure injection molds using overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment.\nConnect and verify all mold utilities including water, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermolators, hot runners, and robotics interfaces.\nSet molds, establish machine startup parameters, and assist with process verification during production startup.\nTroubleshoot molding process issues and support production personnel in resolving equipment and quality concerns.\nPerform machine startups and shutdowns according to established work instructions and production schedules.\nAbility to safely and efficiently change, load and verify machine programs on injection machines to support production requirements. \nInspect molds and tooling for wear, damage, or maintenance requirements and report findings to appropriate personnel.\nEnsure proper mold clamping, alignment, and functionality before releasing equipment for production.\nSupport preventative maintenance activities on molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment.\nAssist with setup and operation of automation systems, robots, conveyors, grinders, and auxiliary molding equipment.\nMonitor machine performance and make process adjustments when authorized.\nComplete setup documentation, production records, and maintenance logs accurately and timely.\nFollow all safety policies, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and environmental regulations.\nMaintain clean and organized work areas utilizing 5S and continuous improvement principles.\nParticipate in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\nMinimum 2 years of injection molding setup, mold changing, or mold technician experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.\nExperience working with injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment.\nAbility to read and interpret setup sheets and work instructions\nKnowledge of plastics processing and injection molding operations.\nExperience using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.\nBasic mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality.\nAbility to work independently and within a team environment.\nAbility to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in automotive manufacturing.\nExperience with robotics and automation systems.\nForklift certification.\nCrane and rigging certification.\nPhysical Requirements\nFrequently lift, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.\nAbility to bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined spaces as necessary.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nAbility to work near moving machinery and in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.\nCompetencies\nSafety Awareness\nMechanical Aptitude\nTroubleshooting/Problem Solving Skills\nAttention to Detail/ Time Management\nCommunication Skills/Teamwork and Collaboration\nContinuous Improvement Mindset\nQuality Focus\nWork Environment\nThis position operates in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment producing interior plastic components through injection molding processes.
