You should possess a trained eye for detail, be reliable and committed. In depth knowledge and excellent comprehension of quality standards are also required. We will train the ideal candidate on Polyworks.\nMetrologist responsibilities are:\nPlan, promote, and participate in activities to support safety and quality.\n\nParticipate as a Trainer when needed.\n\nDevelop and maintain CMM work instructions.\n\nPerform part layouts/inspections using precision measuring instruments including: micrometers, calipers, height gage, pin gages, gage blocks, comparator, bore gages, thread gages, and spectrophotometer, etc.\n\nSupport the Quality Engineers in meeting part submission requirements and/or validation\n\nProvide documented reports and explanation of inspection results.\n\nPerforms capability studies as required by internal or external customers.\n\nDevelop and maintain the gage control systems.\n\nDevelop and maintain work instructions on proper use of inspection fixtures/gages.\n\nTrain others to run existing inspection programs on the CMM.\n\nParticipate in corrective action investigations and resulting action items.\n\nMake recommendations for overall improvement of the gage control systems and layout processes.\n\nMaintain knowledge of current industry inspection technology and techniques. Introduce these into the facility as appropriate.\n\nOther duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.\n\nMetrologist requirements are:\n3+ years experience as a CMM programmer in an automotive manufacturing environment\n\nMinimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in Engineering or Quality from a college/university or technical school. B.S preferred.\n\nMust have outstanding analytical skills.\n\nMust be proficient in written and verbal communication.\n\nKnowledgeable and experienced in various problem-solving methods, including: 8D, 5-WHY, 5P, etc.\n\nProven ability to use various precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gage, gage blocks gage pins, etc.\n\nProficient in writing, editing and running CMM programs for complex parts and components.
