The Alma facility manufactures plastic interior automotive components using injection molding processes. These components are transferred to a highly automated paint system where robotic technology is used to flame treat, paint, and finish parts to customer specifications.\nThe Paint Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing automated paint line equipment, including paint robots, flame treatment robots, conveyors, and associated automation systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, paint quality, process efficiency, and production uptime while maintaining a safe work environment.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nRobotics & Automation\nTroubleshoot, and optimize automated paint robots and flame treatment robots.\nDiagnose and resolve robotic system faults and communication issues.\nSupport robot path adjustments, teach points, and equipment calibration.\nMonitor and maintain robotic performance to minimize downtime.\nEquipment Maintenance\nPerform preventive and predictive maintenance on paint line automation equipment.\nTroubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems associated with the paint line.\nRepair and replace components including sensors, motors, drives, valves, pumps, and robotic equipment.\nMaintain paint application equipment, flame treatment systems, conveyors, and curing systems.\nAssist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.\nProcess & Quality Control\nEnsure paint processes meet customer quality standards and specifications.\nMonitor production equipment to identify opportunities for process improvement.\nSupport root cause analysis and corrective actions for paint defects and equipment failures.\nVerify proper operation of paint application and flame treatment processes.\nWork closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues.\nSafety & Compliance\nFollow all company safety procedures and environmental regulations.\nSupport lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.\nMaintain proper housekeeping standards within the paint department.\nEnsure equipment operates in compliance with company and regulatory standards.\nDocumentation\nComplete maintenance records, troubleshooting reports, and work orders.\nDocument process changes and equipment modifications.\nAssist in developing standard operating procedures and preventive maintenance schedules.\nQualifications\nEducation\nExperience in Robotics, Automation, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.\nExperience\nMinimum 3 years of experience in an automated manufacturing environment preferred.\nExperience with robotic programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance preferred, but not required.\nExperience working with automated paint systems, flame treatment systems, or automotive manufacturing preferred.\nInjection molding manufacturing experience is a plus.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nKnowledge of industrial robotics and automated manufacturing systems.\nAbility to program and troubleshoot robotic equipment.\nUnderstanding of PLC-controlled automation systems.\nAbility to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.\nStrong electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.\nFamiliarity with preventive maintenance systems and continuous improvement methods.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical abilities.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.\nPreferred Technical Experience\nExperience with one or more of the following:\nFANUC Robotics\nABB Robotics\nKawasaki Robotics\nPLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent)\nHMI and industrial control systems\nAutomated paint application systems\nFlame treatment equipment\nVision inspection systems\nEthernet/IP and industrial networking\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.\nAbility to work in manufacturing and paint production environments.\nAbility to climb ladders, work at heights, and access equipment for maintenance activities.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator.\nWorking Conditions\nManufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, paint systems, and industrial chemicals.\nMay require occasional overtime, weekend work, and emergency call-in support.\nExposure to moderate noise levels and varying
