This role is responsible for performing conceptual engineering and detailed engineering reviews, among other engineering activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, company standards, and consistent engineering practices.\nThe position reports to the Unit Manager and works day-to-day as part of a cross-functional project team, providing technical engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.\nKey Responsibilities\nExecute detailed electric system engineering tasks across project phases, including scoping, budgeting support, conceptual and detailed design, construction support, and closeout.\nPerform engineering analyses, calculations, and designs for electric systems; ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.\nPrepare, review, and maintain engineering documentation and drawings (e.g., schematics, one-line diagrams, equipment specifications); ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality.\nSupport technical decision-making by providing sound engineering recommendations and resolving design issues.\nCollaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment with project requirements, company policies, and best practices.\nEnsure engineering deliverables meet established quality standards and project schedules.\nVerify that all electric system designs implemented by the company comply with applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards.\nParticipate in process improvement and standardization efforts to enhance engineering efficiency, consistency, and quality.\nConduct site visits, field walkdowns, and attend project meetings to support progress tracking and issue resolution.\nApply working knowledge of substation and electric system design and construction for utility environments or large-scale projects.\nManage assigned tasks and priorities to support timely project execution.\nCollaborate effectively across departments to support integrated project delivery.\nWork independently on assigned engineering tasks with minimal supervision while seeking guidance as needed.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline\n3+ years minimum of relevant experience in electric system engineering, power systems, or substation design\n#LI-JO1\nCompany:\nNY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORPMobility Information\nPlease note that any applicant who is not a citizen of the country of the vacancy will be subject to compliance with the applicable immigration requirements to legally work in that country.\nAt Avangrid we provide fair and equal employment and advancement opportunities for all employees and candidates regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, protected veteran status or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law.\nIf you are an individual with a disability or a disabled veteran who is unable to use our online tool to search for or to apply for jobs, you may request a reasonable accommodation by contacting our People and Organization department at .\nAvangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties.
