This is an exciting opportunity to lead the successful delivery of major Connections and Investment projects that are critical to supporting the energy transition, network resilience, and customer growth across our licence areas.\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-value, complex projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.\nThis role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and project governance capabilities, working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with customers, contractors, internal and external stakeholders.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nLead the end-to-end delivery of Connections or Investment projects ranging from network reinforcement schemes through to large-scale customer connection projects.\nManage project execution plans, schedules, budgets, resources, and risk registers.\nEnsure projects are delivered in line with agreed scope, programme milestones, and financial targets.\nDrive project performance through effective planning, monitoring, reporting, and control mechanisms.\nManage project change processes and ensure governance requirements are met.\nBuild strong relationships with customers, local authorities, contractors, consultants, and internal functional teams.\nManage customer expectations while maintaining focus on delivery objectives.\nIdentify, assess, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.\nEnsure compliance with SPEN policies, regulatory obligations, CDM regulations, and industry standards.\nPromote a strong safety culture and ensure health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements are embedded throughout project delivery.\nLead lessons learned activities and continuous improvement initiatives.\nWhat you’ll bring\nDegree qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction,\nProject Management, or related discipline.\nProject Management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent.\nFull UK Driving Licence.\nProject / programme management experience, with a strong performance ethos and a track record of driving and delivering projects and initiatives.\nKnowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.\nGeneral contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery, ensuring maximum return on investment.\nEffective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.\nAbility to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.\nMinimum Criteria\nAwareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.\nExperience in a project delivery role.\nComputer literacy.\nMicrosoft suite.\nExperience in a programme management environment of multiple projects and disciplines.\nUnderstanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.\nStrong skills in planning, financial control, contractor and stakeholder management.\nWhat’s in it for you\nAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
