From major new substations and network reinforcements to large-scale refurbishment and replacement programmes, our teams are delivering some of the most significant transmission projects in the UK.\nWe're looking for an experienced Site Manager (Electrical) to join our Transmission business and support the safe and successful delivery of critical substation construction projects across Central and Southern Scotland.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong background in electrical substation construction, installation, commissioning or maintenance, who enjoys leading contractors, solving technical challenges and delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently.\nWorking alongside Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and HSQE professionals, you'll be at the forefront of project delivery, taking ownership of site activities and ensuring works are completed safely, to specification, on programme and within budget.\nWhat you'll be doing\nAs Site Manager, you'll act as ScottishPower's primary representative on site, overseeing contractor performance and ensuring the successful delivery of transmission projects ranging from substation extensions and refurbishments through to major new-build developments.\nYou'll be responsible for:\nManaging daily site activities across multiple construction work fronts\nEnsuring contractor compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements\nMonitoring project progress against agreed plans and delivery milestones\nProviding technical oversight and site leadership throughout construction and commissioning activities\nReviewing construction methodologies and ensuring alignment with engineering designs and specifications\nManaging work packages, site records, inspections and quality documentation\nSupporting the commercial management of works, including monitoring time, cost and productivity\nBuilding strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes\nYou'll provide technical oversight across a range of transmission substation works, supporting the safe installation, testing and commissioning of high-voltage plant, protection and control equipment, cable systems and associated electrical infrastructure.\nWhat you'll bring\nWe're particularly keen to hear from candidates with hands-on substation experience who understand the challenges of working within live electrical environments and delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects.\nEssential Experience:\nElectrical transmission or distribution substations\nHigh-voltage construction, maintenance or commissioning projects\nManaging contractors and construction activities on complex electrical infrastructure projects\nWorking within live substation environments under Electrical Safety Rules\nDelivering works associated with primary plant, protection and control systems and associated infrastructure\nInterpreting electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and construction specifications\nManaging site safety and promoting a strong safety culture\nCoordinating multiple stakeholders to achieve project delivery objectives\nDesirable Experience & Qualifications:\nPrevious Site Manager experience within the power, utilities or electrical infrastructure sector\nKnowledge of transmission network construction practices\nExperience operating within NEC contracts\nSMSTS qualification\nFull First Aid certification\nStrong IT skills including Microsoft Office\nFull UK driving licence\nOvertime Payments ( Overtime is optional)\n Mon-Sat (8pm-midnight): Time & ½\n Mon-Sat (midnight-8am): Double Time\nSundays: Double Time\nWhat’s in it for you\nWith a strong pipeline of projects across Scotland and an order book covering the next 10 years, this role offers long-term stability and excellent opportunities for career progression, whether developing further within overhead lines or gaining experience across other disciplines such as substations and underground cables.\nAs well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy several other benefits.
