As a team, we value analytical thinking, humility, and continuous learning while solving complex challenges.\nJob Summary\nWe are seeking a software engineer to design and build high-performance, distributed systems that process and analyze massive streams of trading data for regulatory surveillance. This role involves developing scalable data pipelines, implementing complex rules engines, and optimizing relational and Snowflake databases for large-scale workloads. You will work with technologies such as Java, Python, Snowflake, Kafka, and Linux. You will also use AI tools like Anthropic's Claude to accelerate your own development work and to design and build agentic workflows that automate engineering, SDLC, and surveillance analyst tasks. The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms, and experience building systems that handle billions of events daily in low-latency environments.\nResponsibilities:\nCollaborate with end-users to gather and refine functional requirements for complex, data-driven systems. \nProduce detailed project documentation, including architecture diagrams, functional specifications, technical designs, and test plans. \nDesign, develop, test, and implement scalable data processing pipelines, rules engines, and database solutions leveraging Snowflake and relational databases. \nOptimize system performance for large-scale, low-latency workloads handling billions of events daily. \nWork closely with infrastructure teams to deploy and maintain applications on Linux-based environments. \nCoordinate with cross-functional teams for new application development, troubleshooting, and system enhancements. \nLeverage AI tools such as Anthropic's Claude to drive personal and team productivity gains across coding, testing, and documentation.\nDesign, build, and maintain agentic workflows that automate repetitive engineering and surveillance tasks, integrating LLMs responsibly into production and internal tooling.\nTake ownership of projects as individual contributor, adapting to dynamic requirements. \nResearch emerging technologies, tools, and design patterns, including advances in AI and agentic systems, to improve scalability, resilience, and performance. \nProvide ongoing application support and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. \nParticipate in a 24/7 production on-call rotation to ensure system reliability and uptime. \nParticipate in recruitment process as and when required for new engineering hires \nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field \n2+ years of software engineering experience in high-performance or distributed systems \nStrong proficiency in Java and Python for backend development \nExperience with Linux environments and at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Shell) \nHands-on experience with SQL and Snowflake for large-scale data processing \nFamiliarity with streaming and big data technologies such as Apache Kafka a plus \nSolid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques \nAbility to design and implement scalable, low-latency systems handling billions of events daily\nExperience using AI coding assistants such as Anthropic's Claude for productivity and building agentic/LLM-powered workflows\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration \nSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently \nExperience in finance, trading, exchange, or related fields is a plus \nBenefits and Perks of working for Cboe Global Markets\nWe value the total wellbeing of our people - including health, financial, personal and social wellness.
