This role focuses on translating complex product rules, financial calculations, and business formulas into scalable, high-performance software solutions.\nThe engineer will work closely with product, actuarial, and engineering teams in both India and the US to implement calculation logic for life and annuity insurance products. Much of the work involves analyzing business requirements and calculation spreadsheets, then converting those rules into robust, maintainable .NET applications and APIs.\nSuccess in this role requires strong C# development skills, a solid understanding of .NET architecture and design principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work through complex calculation and business logic problems. Prior insurance experience is beneficial but not required for candidates with strong software engineering and analytical skills.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain complex business calculation engines and services using C# and .NET.\nTranslate business requirements, product specifications, formulas, and spreadsheet-based calculation models into scalable, maintainable software solutions.\nBuild and enhance APIs and backend services that power insurance illustration, quoting, and product platforms.\nEnsure calculations are accurate, performant, auditable, and aligned with product requirements.\nApply strong object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and .NET architectural best practices.\nDevelop comprehensive unit tests and support automated testing to ensure calculation integrity and system reliability.\nAnalyze, debug, and resolve complex business logic and application issues.\nCollaborate with product, actuarial, QA, and engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.\nCreate and maintain clear technical documentation for calculation logic, system design, and implementation details.\nProvide accurate effort estimates and take ownership of deliverables through design, development, testing, and deployment.\nParticipate in Agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives\nQualifications\n3+ years of professional software development experience.\nStrong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem.\nExperience with ASP.NET / .NET Core, Web APIs, and service-oriented architecture.\nSolid understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and design patterns.\nExperience with SQL databases (SQL Server preferred), including:\nQuery optimization\nData modeling\nPerformance considerations\nAbility to interpret and validate financial and actuarial calculations.\nHands-on experience with Excel for understanding and validating calculation logic.\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum development.\nExperience using Git / Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar tools.\nStrong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.\nAbility to bridge actuarial logic and software engineering\nHigh ownership and accountability for assigned work\nComfort working in distributed India-US teams\nStrong attention to detail, especially around financial accuracy\nWillingness to continuously learn insurance domain knowledge and modern engineering practices\nPreferred / Nice to Have\nExperience building or supporting insurance illustration or actuarial systems\nExposure to annuity, life insurance, or retirement products\nExperience with Entity Framework or similar ORMs\nKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines\nFamiliarity with performance optimization techniques (caching, async processing)\nBasic understanding of application security and data protection best practices\nWe believe the best ideas and innovation happen when we are together.
