SUPO, where required)\n\nThe Mission of the Manufacturing Engineer\nWe're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Space Systems team and own the manufacturability of electronic hardware from prototype through to production. In this role, you'll work closely with electronics designers and PCB manufacturers, reviewing layouts, driving DFM, and resolving fabrication and assembly issues before they become production problems. You'll be the technical bridge between our design engineers and our PCB/PCBA suppliers.\nThis role is perfect for someone who's deeply comfortable with PCB design, fabrication, and assembly processes, and who enjoys catching manufacturability issues early and negotiating them out with suppliers.\nWho are we?\nICEYE delivers space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to governments and allied nations. The company has more than 900 employees, inspired by the shared vision of improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.\nDay to day responsibilities:\nReview schematics and PCB layouts for manufacturability (stackups, routing, power integrity, grounding, impedance control)\n\nDFM/DFA reviews (panelization, drill sizes, annular rings, solder mask, copper balancing)\n\nReview manufacturer DFM reports, negotiate design changes with fabricators/assemblers\n\nOwn ECOs arising from manufacturing feedback\n\nManage PCB/PCBA documentation (Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, BOMs, pick-and-place)\n\nSupport test strategy (flying probe, ICT, boundary scan, functional test, AOI, X-ray)\n\nApply IPC standards to defect/root cause/failure analysis\n\nEvaluate component footprints/packages for assembly risk\n\nWork with fab/SMT partners on soldering, stencil design, surface finishes\n\nManage PCB/PCBA supplier relationships (risk, issue tracking, scheduling)\n\nRequirements:\nMust have skills:\n3+ years of experience in manufacturing/process engineering within aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability industry.\n\nDegree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.\n\nPCB Design Review - Read schematics, review PCB layouts, understand multilayer stackups, evaluate routing, power integrity, grounding, impedance control\n\nPCB Manufacturing (DFM) - Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), panelization, fabrication constraints, drill sizes, annular rings, solder mask rules, copper balancing\n\nPCB Quality - IPC standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-610), defect analysis, root cause analysis, failure analysis\n\nManufacturing Communication - Review manufacturer DFM reports, answer engineering questions, negotiate design changes, manage engineering change orders (ECOs)\n\nCAD Tools - Any, but in particular Altium Designer\n\nDocumentation - Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, BOM management, pick-and-place files\n\nTesting - Flying probe, ICT, boundary scan, functional testing, AOI, X-ray inspection\n\nComponent Knowledge - PCB footprints, package types, SMT, through-hole, BGA, fine-pitch components\n\nManufacturing Process - PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, reflow soldering, wave soldering, stencil design, PCB finishes (ENIG, HASL, OSP)\n\nProject Skills - Supplier management, risk assessment, issue tracking, schedule coordination\n\nNice to have skills:\nExperience in space, defense, or avionics manufacturing environments.\n\nExposure to ECSS, MIL-STD, or IPC-J-STD-001 (Space Addendum).\n\nLean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt).\n\nFamiliarity with environmental test processes (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMC) as they relate to manufacturing handoff.\n\nApplication process\nTalent Acquisition Interview\n\nHiring Manager Interview\n\nTechnical Interview (onsite or virtual), including a Technical Challenge\n\nHiring Team Interview\n\nOffer Decision\n\nWorking at ICEYE\nAt ICEYE, you’ll join a diverse and highly engaged team united by the ambition to make the impossible possible.
