Examples may include planning documents, technical assistance materials, grant applications, planning studies, or other relevant transportation planning work.\nWe are looking for a Senior Transportation Specialist who is excited to help communities, employers, and organizations expand access to cleaner, more flexible transportation options. In this role, you will support targeted outreach, data analysis, presentations, reporting, and project strategy-primarily for projects in New York State, with opportunities to contribute to work in other states or at the federal level. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who brings curiosity, initiative, and a strong interest in sustainable transportation and mobility along with the confidence to build relationships and share new ideas.\nThis full-time position will ideally reside within the Syracuse metro region or Onondaga County, New York (other locations will be considered). The schedule will tentatively start off as work-from-home but there will likely be an expectation to eventually be in an office location for 2-3 days a week. You may have to travel to surrounding counties for meetings and events. Events may happen during the daytime or occasional/infrequent evening and/or weekend hours throughout the year.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nSupport transportation demand management (TDM), transportation planning, sustainable mobility, data analysis, and program evaluation projects.\nConduct research and market analysis on transportation modes, technologies, policies, and programs.\nDevelop technical reports, planning documents, guidebooks, training materials, and outreach products for varied audiences.\nBuild and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community partners.\nWork with a diverse set of clients and adapt communication and work styles to meet client needs.\nFacilitate and support meetings, workshops, presentations, and outreach events.\nProvide technical assistance, communications support, and implementation support for sustainable mobility programs.\nTrack schedules, deliverables, proposals, and related project activities to support strong project organization.\nMeet with prospective clients around New York State, including Metropolitan Planning Organizations, the Department of State, and other public-sector partners.\nUse Microsoft Office Suite to support project documentation, analysis, communication, and reporting.\nThis position requires experience in one or more of the following areas:\nCommunity engagement experience with stakeholders and community-based organizations.\nTransportation planning and programs relating to public transportation, microtransit, and micromobility.\nHosting or supporting presentations, events, and meetings with clients or stakeholders.\nUtilizing data, technological tools, training workshops, and innovative techniques to promote participation in programs.\nCollaborate with a project team and client to achieve established goals.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in geography, sustainability, transportation planning, urban planning, policy, or related field +5 years of experience or Masters +2 years of experience\nPreferred Qualifications and Skills\nKnowledge of transportation demand management, public transportation, microtransit, micromobility, sustainable mobility, and emerging mobility strategies.\nAbility to analyze data, identify trends, synthesize findings, and connect research to practical recommendations in a concise way.\nStrong and demonstrated written communication skills, including the ability to be a key contributor in proposals, reports, summaries, outreach materials, and client-facing deliverables.\nExperience translating technical information for diverse audiences, including public agencies, stakeholders, and community partners.\nStrong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience supporting meetings, workshops, interviews, and outreach events.\nExcellent organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage deadlines, track deliverables, and support multiple assignments at once.\nCollaborative working style with the ability to contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams and maintain positive client relationships.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with survey tools, mapping tools, data visualization, or project management platforms is a plus.\nBot and Third-Party Applications\nPlease note that this application must be submitted directly by the applicant for consideration.
