Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, you will provide expert guidance across enterprise systems, storage, backup, identity management, and collaboration platforms while ensuring services remain secure, resilient, and high performing.\nYou will lead day-to-day infrastructure operations, act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, manage key technology vendors, and mentor the Network & Systems Administrator. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will drive operational excellence, support strategic technology initiatives, and ensure reliable technology services that enable staff and student success.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of the organisation's network, infrastructure, cloud, and systems environments across on-premises, data centre, and cloud platforms.\nAct as the senior technical escalation point, leading the resolution of complex infrastructure, network, security, cloud, and identity-related incidents and issues.\nManage and administer enterprise platforms and services, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, email, collaboration tools, telephony, and identity and access management.\nOversee compute, virtualisation, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to ensure resilience and operational continuity.\nLead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of cybersecurity controls, vulnerability management, security monitoring, and incident response capabilities.\nEnsure secure and effective onboarding and offboarding processes, including user access, licensing, device provisioning, and governance requirements.\nManage the lifecycle of IT hardware, software, and infrastructure assets, ensuring they remain secure, supported, and fit for purpose.\nManage vendor relationships, service providers, contracts, and procurement activities, ensuring service delivery meets organisational requirements and agreed standards.\nLead, mentor, and provide technical oversight to the Network & Systems Administrator while fostering a collaborative, high-performing IT team culture.\nContribute to strategic technology initiatives, projects, documentation, governance, stakeholder engagement, and continuous service improvement across the organisation.\nAbout You\nYou are an experienced IT infrastructure professional with strong expertise across networks, systems, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity. You thrive in a hands-on technical environment, enjoy solving complex problems, and are committed to delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing technology services. A collaborative team player and natural mentor, you build strong relationships with stakeholders and are passionate about continuous improvement.\nRelevant Experience and Attributes\nEssential\nDegree in Computing, Information Technology, or equivalent industry knowledge and experience.\nExtensive experience with internetworking technologies, including Cisco routing, switching, and firewall systems.\nStrong experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments.\nExtensive experience with virtualisation technologies, particularly Microsoft Hyper-V across on-premises, data centre, and cloud environments.\nStrong experience administering Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Active Directory environments.\nExtensive knowledge of information security tools, technologies, and processes, with experience in platforms such as Fortinet, CrowdStrike, and Mimecast.\nStrong experience configuring and managing storage solutions, including enterprise compute, SAN, NAS, backup, and disaster recovery technologies.
