In this pivotal role, you will act as the key link between clinical study teams, central laboratory partners, and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring the seamless management of human biological samples (HBS) throughout the clinical trial lifecycle.\nWhat You Will Do:\nYou will be responsible for the operational setup, oversight, and management of central laboratory activities for clinical studies.\nYour key responsibilities will include:\nServing as the primary point of contact between study teams and central laboratory partners.\n\nCoordinating the management of human biological samples from study start-up through study close-out.\n\nDeveloping and maintaining Human Biological Sample Management (HBSM) Plans and Sample Risk Assessments.\n\nEnsuring appropriate sample flow, testing activities, and laboratory data delivery processes are established and maintained.\n\nOverseeing sample chain of custody, laboratory operations, and issue resolution across global laboratory networks.\n\nManaging laboratory budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.\n\nCollaborating closely with Clinical Operations, Data Management, Laboratory Vendors, Human Genetics, and other cross-functional teams.\n\nActing as a subject matter expert and driving continuous improvement of laboratory and sample management processes.\n\nYour Profile:\nMaster’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, or a related discipline.\n\nMinimum 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory operations and clinical trial conduct.\n\nStrong understanding of central laboratory operations within clinical research development.\n\nExcellent knowledge of ICH-GCP and GCLP requirements.\n\nDemonstrated project management capability in complex, cross-functional environments.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English.\n\nProven track record in project planning, execution, and issue resolution.\n\nExperience managing laboratory vendors and external partners.\n\nStrong experience working within global, matrixed, and multicultural organizations.\n\nExperience leading operational meetings and coordinating multiple stakeholders.\n\nEmployment with ICON is contingent upon having the legal right to work in the country where the role is based.\nRewards & Benefits\nICON offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package designed to support your health, wellbeing, and career development.\nBenefits may include:\nCompetitive base salary and performance related incentives\nHealth and wellbeing programmes including medical, dental, and vision coverage where applicable\nRetirement and pension plans\nLife assurance and disability coverage\nEmployee assistance programmes and wellbeing resources\nLearning and development opportunities through structured training and career pathways\nBenefits may vary depending on role and location.\nVisit our careers site to read more about the benefits ICON offers.\nInclusion and Accessibility\nICON is an equal opportunity employer.
