Working alongside an experienced team of project managers, the Construction Project Manager Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting projects from planning through construction and completion. The intern will collaborate with internal departments and external agencies, learn from project managers, construction managers, engineers and organizational leaders, and build practical skills in a dynamic mix of office and field settings.\nA COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE\nKnowledge of:\nGeneral knowledge of project management, construction, and engineering principles\nDeveloping knowledge of electric utility facilities, design and construction processes, estimating, scheduling, cost tracking, quality, risk and the utility business environment\nSkills in:\nEffective oral and written communication\nTeamwork\nOrganization\nAttention to detail\nData collection and analysis\nMeeting documentation\nBasic schedule and budget tracking\nThe use of Microsoft Office and related project management software\nAbility to:\nWork safely in office and field environments\nRead and develop a basic understanding of drawings, schedules, estimates, contracts and project records\nOrganize and prioritize assignments\nEstablish effective working relationships\nWork independently with direction and as part of a project team\nIdentify issues and develop alternatives\nAnalyze project information\nPrepare written and oral updates\nManage multiple tasks and deadlines\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\nEducation:\nHigh school diploma or GED\nCurrently enrolled in an accredited college or university program in construction management, project management, engineering, business or a related field as a junior, non-graduating senior status, or in a related advanced degree program\nExperience:\nN/A\nLicenses & Certifications:\nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position\n PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nApproximately 70% of the work is performed in an office environment with computer use and phone conversation, requiring sitting up to 8 hours daily. This position may occasionally stand/walk on uneven surfaces of construction sites up to 8 hours (with periodic breaks) in different weather environments, while wearing PPE. Climbing of stairs and ladders is occasionally required in power generation facilities. Lifting/carrying of up to 20 lb. Crouching, kneeling, and stooping/bending is required occasionally. Driving of up to 4 hours throughout the IPC service area is required occasionally. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
