While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.\nWhat does a Surveyor do for us?\nProvide land surveying services using traditional survey instruments, global positioning system (GPS) technologies, and scanners. Perform research of boundary evidence, draw exhibit easements, and write legal descriptions. Collect survey data to obtain permits. Exercise professional judgement of complicated land survey matters by evaluation of written, field, and parole evidence. Advise multidisciplinary project teams on land rights and project layout matters. Prepare and manage survey contracting requests.\nIn addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, and continuing professional education, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.\nA COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE\nKnowledge of:\nCivil drafting principles\nSurvey field practices\nLegal descriptions and easements\nCoordinate System transformations\nBoundary retracements\nPreferred:\no Electric utility line design, construction, and mapping techniques\no LiDAR and scanning\no Survey Contract Administration\nSkills in:\nLand survey instruments and GPS technologies\nAlgebra, geometry, trigonometry, advanced math\nAutoDesk Civil 3D software\nAnalysis techniques\nStrong customer service skills\nPlotter and scanner technologies\nComputer network operations, personal computer use/maintenance, and Microsoft Office applications\nFile management\nPreferred:\no Trimble survey equipment, Trimble Business Center software\nAbility to:\nRead and understand construction drawings and survey records\nUnderstand and carry out complex written and oral instructions\nWork independently for extended periods\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\nEducation:\nBachelor's degree in geomatics, land surveying, or civil engineering\nOR\nEquivalent combination of training and experience\nPreferred:\no Bachelor's degree in geomatics, land surveying, or civil engineering with an emphasis in land survey\no Additional accredited education in computer aided drafting and geographic information systems\nExperience:\n4 years of previous survey-related experience\nOR\nEquivalent experience utilizing survey data and deliverables\nPreferred:\no 6 years of previous experience providing land surveying services using traditional survey instruments and GNSS technologies\no 6 years of researching boundary evidence, drafting exhibits using CAD applications, and writing legal descriptions\nLicenses & Certifications:\nLicensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Idaho or 2 years of experience surveying for electric utility projects or equivalent experience utilizing survey data and deliverables\nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position\nPreferred:\no Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the states of Idaho and Oregon\n PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nJob requires the ability to frequently bend, stoop, crawl, squat, crouch, climb, twist, kneel, and stand for long periods of time. Access survey locations over uneven terrain such as hills, mountains, rocks, structures, and fences. Lift (shoulder high and above, knee high and waist high) and carry survey and GPS equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. The job requires walking at extreme grades on steep hillsides and through valleys. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others or property.
