The successful candidate will contribute to the development, enhancement and maintenance of modern frontend applications and shared UI capabilities. They will work primarily with React and TypeScript, while leveraging established component libraries and frontend engineering practices.\n\nThe ideal candidate is pragmatic, curious and quality-focused. They should be comfortable learning new technologies, working within existing technical standards and contributing to the continuous improvement of the team's engineering practices.\n\nQualifications:\n\nRelevant degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.\n\nWhat success looks like:\n\nWithin the role, the engineer should progressively demonstrate the ability to:\n\nDeliver frontend features and components with increasing independence.\n\nUnderstand and follow the team's established engineering standards.\n\nMake sound technical decisions and communicate their reasoning.\n\nProduce reliable, maintainable and well-tested code.\n\nEffectively use the team's Git, CI/CD and deployment processes.\n\nContribute positively to code reviews and technical discussions.\n\nUnderstand how their work fits into the wider application and shared frontend ecosystem.\n\nIdentify and raise potential technical issues before they become larger problems.\n\nDocument their work sufficiently for other engineers to understand and maintain it.\n\nUse modern development tools, including AI-assisted tools, responsibly and effectively.\n\nBecome a dependable member of the engineering team who can be trusted to own and deliver their area of work.\n\nYour Expertise\n\nApproximately 2–5 years of relevant software engineering experience, depending on demonstrated technical capability.\n\nDemonstrable experience developing and maintaining frontend applications using React.\n\nExperience working within a professional software development environment.\n\nExperience working with source control, code reviews and software delivery processes.\n\nEquivalent practical experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.\n\nEssential\n\nPractical experience developing frontend applications using React.\n\nWorking knowledge of TypeScript.\n\nExperience working with component libraries or frontend design systems, such as MUI or comparable libraries.\n\nUnderstanding of reusable component development and component composition.\n\nUnderstanding of component API design, including the use of props and sensible interfaces.\n\nExperience working with Git and collaborative source-control workflows.\n\nWorking knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and software deployment processes.\n\nExperience writing and maintaining automated tests.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot frontend issues and investigate problems independently.\n\nAbility to understand and contribute to an existing codebase.\n\nAbility to follow established technical patterns and standards.\n\nAbility to produce clear technical and implementation documentation.\n\nPreferred\n\nExperience with MUI / MUI X.\n\nExperience working with themes and design tokens.\n\nExperience contributing to or consuming a shared component library or design system.\n\nFamiliarity with micro-frontend architecture and/or Module Federation.\n\nBasic understanding of frontend build tooling such as Webpack.\n\nExperience working with API integrations.\n\nExperience with Figma design handoffs.\n\nUnderstanding of frontend accessibility and responsive design principles.\n\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted software development
