Working closely with Software Engineers, Data Engineers and Product Managers, you'll help define technical direction across multiple domains.\nYou'll work with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Braze, Snowflake and AWS services including Glue, Lambda and S3 in a modern cloud-native architecture. From data ingestion and transformation to customer-facing activation, you'll help build reliable systems that teams across idealo depend on every day. When new CRM capabilities go live, you'll see the direct impact of your work in millions of customer interactions.\nThe position is available in full or part-time.\nAbout your new role\nDesign, implement, maintain, and evolve reliable and scalable software systems and data flows for CRM and user engagement use cases.\n\nStay hands-on by designing and developing cloud-native microservices, event-driven applications and backend services with a strong focus on performance, security and operational excellence.\n\nLead technical initiatives within and across the team to align technical solutions with business needs.\n\nDrive continuous improvements across software development, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, observability, and monitoring while evaluating new technologies where they add measurable value.\n\nMentor engineers through technical guidance, architecture discussions and code reviews, fostering a collaborative engineering culture focused on sustainable technical excellence.\n\nRequirements\nSkills & Requirements\nYou bring extensive experience building cloud-native software systems on AWS and designing distributed, event-driven architectures using Java 17+, Spring Boot, Kafka and modern backend technologies.\n\nYou have deep expertise in data architecture, data warehousing, ETL processes and data integration, combined with hands-on experience working with technologies such as Glue, S3 and MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.\n\nYou are experienced with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes, and are familiar with serverless architectures, AWS Lambda and modern CI/CD practices.\n\nYou have a strong understanding of software quality, security and reliability, including authentication, encryption, automated testing and secure software development practices.\n\nYou have a proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives, influencing architectural decisions and aligning engineering work across teams without formal people management responsibility.\n\nYou take ownership and independently drive topics forward.
