Then this could be the right role for you.\nAbout the Team\nThe Product Creation & Assignment team at idealo builds the systems behind the automated expansion of our product catalogue. Products are the comparable entities users see on our platform - pages where offers from different shops are grouped, enriched and made comparable. We build the systems that identify and create new products from various data sources, and assign incoming shop offers to the right existing or newly created products.\nWe work on a modern, cloud-native stack combining JVM-based backend services with data-intensive AWS workflows: Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB and EKS, as well as Python-based pipelines using MWAA, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Glue Spark and S3. We integrate ML models and GenAI components into our production systems and actively use AI tools such as Claude Code in our daily development workflow.\nAbout your new role\nAs a working student, you will contribute to meaningful work alongside a senior engineering team. Depending on your background and interests, your work may include:\nSupporting the development and improvement of backend services and data workflows for automated catalogue expansion.\n\nWorking on product data quality - helping improve matching logic, data completeness and pipeline reliability.\n\nExploring how ML models and GenAI components (such as LLM-based matchers) can be integrated into production systems.\n\nContributing to tooling, observability and automation that makes the team more effective.\n\nParticipating in code reviews, pairing sessions and team rituals - learning how a production-grade engineering team operates.\n\nRequirements\nSkills & Requirements\nCurrently enrolled in a Master's programme in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field - ideally in your first year.\n\nSolid programming foundation, ideally in Java, Kotlin or Python.\n\nSome experience with backend development, data pipelines or cloud services - through coursework, personal projects or a prior internship.\n\nCuriosity about data-intensive systems, ML integration or AI-assisted development.\n\nGood communication skills and comfortable working in English and German.\n\nAt idealo you can expect\nYou want to further your education?
