This role collaborates cross-functionally with internal teams while managing third-party partners in hardware and system development.\nREPORTING TO: Manager, New Product Development Engineering\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: \nLead or contribute to self-contained automation or controls-based projects, including accelerated electromechanical testing systems for new products.\nMaintain, troubleshoot, and support existing PLC-based automation systems.\nCollaborate with product engineers, product managers, and third-party contractors to design and develop PCBA-controlled systems, with a focus on closed-loop motor/motion control and data acquisition.\nManage third-party contractors for hardware development, including component specification, SOW generation, quotation review, technical oversight, scheduling, and verification testing.\nGenerate and maintain technical documentation (schematics, drawings, BOMs, process flow diagrams, etc.) in accordance with internal processes and quality standards.\nResearch and evaluate new technologies to support product innovation and continuous improvement.\nConduct benchmark, accelerated life, laboratory, and field testing of new and existing products.\nEngage with Product Managers to capture Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback and translate requirements into design improvements.\nEnsure compliance with applicable standards and certification requirements, working with regulatory bodies as needed.\nPerform root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.\nSupport supply chain activities including supplier selection, qualification, and technical engagement.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully.\nRequired:Ability to design, test, troubleshoot, and implement custom control hardware and software into new products and to test and verify existing product functionality.\nExperience programming embedded control systems using languages such as C, C++, or Python, and/or PLC and HMI systems using IEC 61131-3 languages (e.g. Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagrams) within structured control architectures.\nAbility to diagnose or troubleshoot industrial control panel issues, including diagnosing hardware component faults, and wiring panels with AC and DC electrical circuits.\nAbility to integrate electrical designs into mechanical assemblies, including selecting and specifying components such as motors, encoders, load cells, and sensors, and collaborating with mechanical engineering teams on integration into new and existing products.\nExperience with data acquisition (DAQ) and post-processing/analysis.\nStrong time management and prioritization skills across multiple projects.\nStrong communication skills and business acumen, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.\n\nPreferred:Experience with 3D CAD design. SolidWorks preferred.\nExperience developing Windows-based applications that interface with PCBA or PLC-controlled systems.\nExperience with root-cause / corrective countermeasure (RCCM).\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent, required.\n2+ years of experience in PCBA-based control systems (hardware and embedded software), with additional experience in PLC/HMI systems preferred.
