The Mechanical Engineer should drive the design and development implementation where compact, low powered, low maintenance, IoT-connected devices enable accurate and timely data-driven business decisions.\nThe Mechanical Engineer will provide technical design execution within a staff of full-time, experienced and specialized engineers while assuming supplemental functional responsibilities. Additionally, this position will be responsible for sourcing inputs for mechanical hardware component BoM, management of third party mechanical resources, support of production issues related to mechanical hardware, and validation of all required physical testing and compliance.\nJob Responsibilities\nTransform the line of hardware products to deliver leading-edge solutions that leap ahead of the competition and solidify the company’s stance as an innovative trusted solutions advisor.\nAdhere to and continue to innovate the development process from ideation through to rapid prototyping and testing and production phases. Introduce new discovery and design techniques that define the best path forward while minimizing the risk/cost of discovery while maintaining requirements of ISO processes and procedures.\nResponsibility for BOM management for mechanical hardware throughout design stages and in accordance with DCO/ECO process in PLM system.\nEvolve the design and test lab to enable rapid proof of concept and prototype development and testing for mechanical components and design aspects.\nResponsibility for materials research and selection for mechanical hardware.\nDeliver insight to business case objectives and requirements development.\nProvide the mechanical engineering design of device housing, tooling and ingress/safety protections to include researching, design and testing of the components of the equipment system. Experienced in the use of computer-assisted engineering and design software to aid in engineering tasks.\nApply advanced CAD model simulation and analyses to validate structural and performance of hardware design\nExecute FMEA analysis and mil-spec testing to ensure design reliability.\nSpecific oversight to hardware physical design, tooling development, electromechanical integration, materials, test processes and interface with supply chain processes. \nEnsure the certification standards for equipment installed in hazardous/explosive atmospheres are met, as necessary.\nInterface with other development, product management, quality management and production/supply chain departments.\nManage, operate, and maintain 3D printers and materials for rapid prototyping.\nEnsure compliance and design certification for all required regulatory standards and drive validation and certifications for physical testing requirements.\nServe as the communication interface for interdepartmental development for mechanical hardware.\nManage documentation storage repository for mechanical hardware design and development.\nParticipate and in sustaining engineering resolution activities and respective validation oversight.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering experience required.\nMinimum 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design required, 7-10 years preferred.\nAdvanced experience in technical integrated hardware, tooling, materials and product development required.\nWorking knowledge of the device certification processes and standards required.\nAble to communicate effectively orally and in written form, including executive level presentation.\nBusiness acumen, understanding of core business success factors, and triggers for productivity, including provision of input into product strategy decisions and the ability to provide early and progressively more accurate estimates of hardware cost to the organization\nExperience with acoustic and ultrasonic engineering and design principles preferred.\nExperience with manufacturing processes required.\nAbility to interpret and implement regulatory safety standards required and specific knowledge and experience with intrinsically safe design highly preferred.\nAdvanced rapid prototyping experience and 3D printer operation\nAre you ready to join a different kind of company where our people, our culture, and our commitments are centered around providing trusted solutions that improve lives around the world?\nIDEX is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
