The technician will primarily focus on manufacturing orders but will also work closely with engineering and will have a direct say in process development and continuous improvement decisions. Technicians should be self-motivated and will be required to work unsupervised at times.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nHigh precision optics metrology (interferometry, optical part characterization)\nCleaning, handling and assembly of optical and opto-electronic components\nOptical contacting\nCleaning and visual inspection of optical components.\nProper handling and packaging of critical and fragile optical components.\nInventory management of consumables for clean room, manufacturing, and chemical supplies.\nProcedure enforcement, maintenance, and cleaning of fabrication and clean room areas.\n· Ability to read, follow and understand procedures\nDocumentation and procedure development of manufacturing processes.\nActively participate in establishing and improving manufacturing processes procedures\nTransacts production work orders through ERP\n· Follows all safety training and guidelines\nAny other duties as assigned by the supervisor or his/her designate\nFabrication Specific, if applicable:\n· Machining (grinding, lapping and polishing) of glass/silicon/ceramic materials on automated and manual equipment\nCNC fabrication equipment operation and maintenance\nInspection & Packaging (I/P) Specific, if applicable:\n· Cleans parts prior to and following deposition of coatings or during other manufacturing steps using both hand cleaning and spin cleaning\n· Cleans and inspects glass and crystal parts and assemblies\n· Packages parts for shipment to customer\n· Loads and unloads complex parts into fixturing\n· Inspects parts and measures defect sizes against MIL specifications\nMetrology Specific, if applicable:\n· Cleans parts prior to and following deposition of coatings or during other manufacturing steps using both hand cleaning and spin cleaning\n· Cleans and inspects glass and crystal parts and assemblies\n· Loads and unloads complex parts into fixturing\n· Utilizes interferometers, microscopes, and other industry equipment to measure parts\nCoating Specific, if applicable:\n· Operates vacuum coating equipment to produce optical thin films\n· Loading and unloading of coating equipment\n· Cleans and maintains coating equipment\n· Calculates various parameters for coating runs from previously recorded data\n· Performs spectrophotometer scan and analysis\n· Troubleshoots vacuum systems\nExperience / Skills / Abilities\n· Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred\n· Experience working with optical components a plus\n· Familiarity with clean room and ESD safe environments constraints a plus\n. Familiarity with microscope inspection techniques a plus\n· Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring exacting and continuous mental and visual concentration in a consistent manner\n· Proficient with basic computer use (Word, Excel) and communication tools (e-mail)\n· Strong work ethic\n· Desire to learn new skills\n· Team player with solid communication skills\nRequirements\nCertain positions with IDEX Corporation and its business units require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations.
