Head of Payments Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute the Payments technology strategy aligned with business goals and enterprise architecture roadmap.
• Own the Payments technology tower covering solution design, engineering delivery, application support, modernisation, and operational excellence.
• Lead transformation initiatives across payment platforms including ATM, CTS, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Card Switch, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, and core banking integrations.
• Partner with business leaders, Enterprise Architects, Cybersecurity, Operations, and delivery teams to drive effective technology solutions.
• Ensure architecture, security, scalability, performance, and operational resilience standards are embedded across payment solutions.
• Drive adoption of cloud technologies, API-led integration, automation, AI/ML capabilities, and modern engineering practices.
• Manage delivery outcomes, technology risks, dependencies, and governance for strategic Payments initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Payments technology team including architects, engineers, and support teams.
• Manage resource planning, team performance, vendor relationships, and continuous capability development.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity frameworks.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in Banking Technology, Payments, Enterprise Architecture, or Digital Transformation.
• Strong experience managing large-scale Payments platforms and technology teams.
• Expertise in payment domains including ATM, Cards, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, Card Switch, and Core Banking integrations.
• Experience in enterprise solution architecture, modernisation, cloud adoption, and technology transformation.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, operational resilience, APIs, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to AWS and other hyperscaler platforms.
• Experience using AI/ML-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making skills.
