Oversees and participates in event support operations, ensuring timely, safe, and high-quality execution in collaboration with campus departments and event planners.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\nAssists in coordinating and assigning work to grounds and event setup staff for campus grounds maintenance and event operations.\nSupervises and participates in the setup and breakdown of campus events, including tables, chairs, staging, risers, podiums, pipe and drape, and related equipment.\nReads and interprets event layouts, diagrams, and work orders to ensure accurate setup according to specifications.\nEnsures proper placement and arrangement of furniture and equipment for events.\nTrains, schedules, and provides guidance to grounds staff, setup staff, and student workers.\nAssists in inspecting work and ensuring compliance with established standards and event requirements.\nEnsures adherence to safety standards, including proper lifting and handling procedures.\nInspects event spaces before and after events to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper arrangement.\nCoordinates with campus departments, Facilities staff, and event planners to accommodate event needs, including last-minute changes.\nMaintains inventory of tables, chairs, staging, and related event equipment.\nReports maintenance needs and damaged equipment.\nOperates grounds maintenance equipment and tools as needed and assists with general grounds upkeep.\nParticipates in snow removal and inclement weather response activities as required.\nServes as lead in the absence of the Grounds Supervisor, as assigned.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:\nKnowledge of event setup procedures, equipment, and safety practices.\nKnowledge of grounds maintenance equipment, tools, and procedures.\nAbility to read and interpret floor plans, diagrams, and work orders.\nSkill in operating grounds and event-related equipment.\nStrong organizational and communication skills.\nAbility to lead, direct, and work collaboratively with staff and student workers.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:\nProvides work direction and oversight to grounds staff, setup staff, and student workers; limited supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Grounds Supervisor.\nOTHER DUTIES:\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.\nTwo (2) to three (3) years of experience in grounds maintenance, event setup, facilities operations, or related field.\nPrevious lead or supervisory experience preferred.\nLicensing and Certifications: NA\nWORKING CONDITIONS:\nWork involves exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and outdoor conditions.\nFrequent lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling; requires the ability to lift and move objects over 50 pounds.\nCombination of indoor and outdoor work environments supporting campus events.\nFast-paced environment with multiple priorities, tight deadlines, and occasional evening and weekend work based on event schedules.\n\nFacilities Department employees are considered “essential employees”.
