You will oversee front-end delivery across our web properties, with NordicTrack.com as your primary focus. In this role, you will lead the team building our e-commerce web applications on Next.js, working closely with UI/UX designers, back-end developers, QA, and product to deliver fast, accessible, and responsive experiences - while shaping architecture, mentoring developers, and driving A/B testing. You will report to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and manage a team of three direct reports.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDrive the design and implementation of efficient, scalable, dynamic, and maintainable front-end solutions using Next.js.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including UI/UX designers, back-end developers, QA, and product managers to ensure seamless integration of dynamic front-end React components.\nLead and mentor the front-end development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment and supporting each developer’s professional growth; run training sessions and workshops on Next.js and other front-end best practices.\nSet and enforce coding standards, best practices, and code reviews to maintain high code quality.\nLeverage GraphQL for efficient data fetching and manipulation of API data from composable e-commerce and headless CMS platforms.\nOwn front-end accessibility (WCAG 2.1 Level AA) and Core Web Vitals performance across our e-commerce sites.\nStay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement in front-end development processes.\nContribute to project planning, resource allocation, and sprint reviews.\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE\nEducation and Basic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 4 years, or 8+ years of professional front-end development experience.\nStrong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React, with hands-on Next.js experience.\n3+ years leading or mentoring front-end developers.\nExperience with GraphQL and with headless CMS or composable e-commerce platforms.\nExperience implementing and analyzing A/B tests for web applications.\nAuthorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSolid understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.\nExperience with Vercel or Netlify.\nExperience with Git and build tools such as Webpack/Vite and npm.\nKnowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA, Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS), and image and video optimization.\nExperience with Figma or similar design tools.\nFamiliarity with Agile methodologies.\nStrong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.\nExperience with AI-assisted development tools.\nDISCLAIMER\nCompensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan, and exemption status.\nAlthough we currently may consider hiring in the states listed below, not all positions are available in all locations, and work in a particular state is not guaranteed.
