The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the 31 December 2026 year-end close and the subsequent external audit, which is expected to run through to March 2027, while also supporting business-as-usual activities including month-end reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls. The interim Management Accountant will be instrumental in maintaining continuity, supporting the wider team through a period of change, and ensuring key deadlines are met during this peak period.\nJob Purpose: The Interim Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the month-end close and management reporting for the Foundation’s entities.\nReporting to the Financial Controller, this role takes hands-on ownership of preparing the management accounts with commentary for assigned regional entities and reporting categories, whilst reviewing the month-end work and reconciliations prepared by the Associate Accountants. Working alongside the FP&A team, this role focuses heavily on balance sheet integrity, robust financial controls, and ensuring the absolute accuracy of the trial balance.\nPrincipal accountabilities:\nManagement Reporting & Month-End Close\nPreparation: Own the end-to-end month-end close process and prepare comprehensive management accounts with variance commentary to assure accuracy.\nReview: Perform a technical review of the month-end close packages and supporting reconciliations prepared by the Associate Accountants for other designated regional entities.\n Variance & Data Integrity: Collaborate cross-departmentally (e.g., with HR, IT, Operations) to ensure correct accruals and analyse variances to ensure the numbers are correct prior to handing over to the FP&A team.\nBalance Sheet Control: Perform and maintain detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure outstanding items are investigated and resolved promptly.\nIntercompany: Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across the regional entities.\nAudit, Compliance & Technical Support\nSupport the Financial controller in the preparation of year-end audit files, trial balances, and supporting schedules, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors.\nSupport the Financial Controller in reviewing year-end packages, statutory financial statements, and compliance filings.\nEnsure all accounting treatments comply with relevant local standards and overall Group accounting policies.\nProcess Optimisation & Systems\nIdentify opportunities to standardise accounting processes and templates\nSupport the Financial Controller in optimizing ERP usage (Microsoft Business Central) and workflow tools to automate manual tasks.\nQualifications, Knowledge & Experience\nQualifications\nFully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).\nKnowledge & Experience\nProven experience in a technical Management Accountant or General Ledger role within a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.\nStrong background in balance sheet control, reconciliations, and complex month-end close processes.\nHands-on experience preparing management accounts with commentary, alongside experience reviewing the trial balances and reconciliations of other entities/colleagues.\nExperience working across European and/or APAC entities is highly advantageous.\nHigh proficiency with modern ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.\nAdvanced Excel skills\nSkills & Attributes\nTeam player with a strong work ethic.\nAttention to detail.\nStrong technical accounting skills with high attention to detail\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to scrutinize numbers and identify errors.\nProactive communicator, comfortable reaching out to other departments to clarify variances.\nSelf-motivated and organized\nAdaptable and positive mindset towards process change, automation, and system upgrades.\nApplication Closing Date: 30th October 2026\nPlease note that while we have a closing date for this application, we reserve the right to interview candidates and potentially close the role early should we find a suitable candidate before the closing date.\nAbout us\nAt the IFRS Foundation, we believe better information leads to better decisions.
