Job Title

Product Governance Specialist

Job Description

Location: London, UK (Hybrid: 3 days in office)

Employment type: Permanent, full time

Reporting into: Product Operations Lead

So, who are we?

IG Group is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.4m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions - built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses.

The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.

Join us at IG - the future gets built here.

Your Team:

This role sits within the new Product Operations team, reporting to the Product Operations Lead, and works closely with stakeholders across IG, including Compliance, Risk and Legal. You’ll be the connective tissue between these functions and IG’s product squads, ensuring the relevant stakeholders are engaged from ideation throughout the product lifecycle. You will help translate the requirements and advice provided by these specialist functions into clear, practical actions for product managers and support their implementation, helping ensure products are compliant, robust and appropriately controlled from launch and throughout their lifecycle.

Your role in the Team’s Success:

This is a role for someone who lives at the intersection of product and compliance, and enjoys it. As Product Governance Specialist you will be the product organisation's in-house expert on product governance to ensure that all products are subject to effective lifecycle governance, including appropriate review, approval, launch, ongoing monitoring, periodic review and maintenance in accordance with IG’s product governance framework and the Consumer Duty rules.

What you’ll do:

Product governance and lifecycle oversight

  • Own and continuously improve IG's new product approval process, ensuring all new products and material changes engages the appropriate stakeholders, and is assessed, documented, and signed off before launch.
  • Ensure clear ownership and effective governance throughout the product lifecycle, including ongoing monitoring and annual reviews to confirm that products remain appropriate, operate as intended and deliver good customer outcomes.
  • Establish appropriate product MI covering performance, customer service, complaints, incidents, target-market alignment and fair value.
  • Work with product owners and relevant stakeholders to identify, escalate, track and resolve product risks, control weaknesses and adverse customer outcomes.
  • Maintain the Product Governance Policy and supporting processes, controls and governance reporting, incorporating requirements and advice from relevant specialist functions.
  • Run and document the annual product review process, working with product owners and relevant stakeholders across IG to confirm that products continue to operate as intended, remain appropriate for their target market, deliver fair value and meet applicable manufacturer and distributor obligations under the Consumer Duty rules.

Product disclosures, risk warnings and customer communications

  • Support the Product Managers and Designers in ensuring that product disclosures, risk warnings and other regulatory disclosures across products, reflect the requirements advised by Compliance, are applied consistently and remain clear and appropriately prominent across products and customer journeys.
  • And that new products, features and changes are reviewed before launch to identify and implement any required risk warnings, disclosures or customer communications.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Act as the trusted link between Product and other functions across IG, including Compliance, Legal & Risk, resolving governance questions quickly rather than letting them become blockers.
  • Train and support product managers on governance requirements, building governance literacy across the wider team.
  • Support the Product Operations Lead, Product Domain Leads and CPO in preparing materials for senior governance committees.

What You'll Need:

  • Practical experience designing, operating or overseeing product governance frameworks and new product approval processes within a UK FCA-regulated financial services firm.
  • Strong working knowledge of Consumer Duty, PROD and UK MiFID II requirements, including their application to product design, approval, monitoring, review and customer communications.
  • Experience running or contributing to new product approval and annual product review processes.
  • Comfortable producing MI and materials for senior committees and, where relevant, board-level reporting.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance that product teams can actually use.
  • Excellent written communication, with the judgement to know when something needs escalating versus when it can be resolved directly.

Desirable

  • Experience with investment, leveraged trading, or crypto products specifically.
  • Background in either a product role that moved into governance, or a compliance role that developed strong product fluency.
  • Familiarity with vulnerable customer frameworks and fair value assessment methodologies.

The Perks

It really is more than a job. We think like a start-up, but we deliver like a FTSE 100 - so the bar is high, and we won't pretend otherwise. We work hybrid, which means three days in the office. We’ll recognise your talent and make sure that you can still have a life - at work, and outside of it. Networks, committees, awards, sports and social clubs, mentorships, volunteering opportunities, extra time off… the list goes on.
