ServiceNow EngineerJob Description
So, who are we?
IG Group is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.4m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions - built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses.
The bar is high - bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.
Join us at IG - the future gets built here.
Your Team
You’ll be part of a collaborative ServiceNow team responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing our enterprise ServiceNow platform.
Working closely with technical teams, process owners and stakeholders, you’ll help deliver scalable solutions, improve platform capabilities and ensure our technology continues to meet evolving business needs.
Your role in the Team's success:
As a ServiceNow Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing and supporting platform solutions across core ServiceNow applications, integrations and infrastructure management capabilities. You’ll combine technical expertise with a strong understanding of ITSM processes and platform best practices to deliver secure, reliable and scalable solutions.
From enhancing workflows and user experiences to maintaining integrations and improving CMDB data quality, you’ll contribute to the continuous evolution of the platform. You’ll also support platform upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues and share knowledge with colleagues to strengthen the team’s technical capabilities.
What you'll do?
- Develop and enhance ServiceNow capabilities: Configure and develop solutions across ITSM, HRSD, ITOM, Discovery and Event Management, including workflows, Flow Designer, reports, Performance Analytics, Service Portal and Employee Center. Prioritise out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality and platform best practices over unnecessary customisation.
- Build integrations and custom solutions: Develop and maintain client-side and server-side scripts, including Business Rules, Script Includes, Script Actions and Scripted REST APIs. Integrate ServiceNow with external platforms and in-house tools using REST, SOAP, FTP, Flow Designer, web services and OOTB integrations.
- Strengthen CMDB and infrastructure management: Apply CSDM principles to map business and technical services to the existing CMDB structure and hierarchy, supporting the discovery and orchestration of infrastructure, hardware and software configuration items.
- Maintain platform health and performance: Install, upgrade and troubleshoot MID Servers; support annual ServiceNow upgrades; resolve technical and process issues; and deliver platform enhancements while meeting agreed SLAs and maintaining platform stability.
What You'll Need:
- ServiceNow experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow core applications, including ITSM, HRSD, ITOM, Discovery and Event Management. Experience configuring workflows, Flow Designer, reports, Performance Analytics, Service Portal and Employee Center is expected.
- Scripting and web technologies: Proficiency in JavaScript and ServiceNow client-side and server-side APIs, alongside experience with HTML, CSS, Angular, Bootstrap, XML, REST and SOAP. Strong knowledge of Business Rules, Script Includes, Script Actions and Scripted REST APIs is essential.
- CMDB, integrations and infrastructure: A strong understanding of CSDM, CMDB tables and relationships, Discovery, and hands-on MID Server installation, upgrades and troubleshooting. Experience integrating ServiceNow with platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Jira, Workday, PagerDuty, OpsGenie, GitLab and IIQ is desirable.
- Platform engineering and maintenance: Experience transitioning custom configurations to OOTB capabilities, supporting platform upgrades, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing secure, scalable integrations. Knowledge of LDAP, SSO, SLAs, SQL and Performance Analytics is an advantage.
- Process knowledge and delivery: Strong ITIL/ITSM fundamentals, an understanding of Agile and Waterfall SDLC practices, and the ability to manage competing priorities, collaborate with stakeholders and deliver solutions within agreed timelines. Experience mentoring junior engineers is also expected.
- Certifications: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) is desirable, with additional certifications such as Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified Implementation Specialist - Data Foundations (CIS-DF), Discovery (CIS-DISCO) or Service Mapping (CIS-SM) considered an advantage.
The Perks:
It really is more than a job. We think like a start-up, but we deliver like a FTSE 100 - so the bar is high, and we won't pretend otherwise. We work hybrid, which means three days in the office. We’ll recognise your talent and make sure that you can still have a life - at work, and outside of it. Networks, committees, awards, sports and social clubs, mentorships, volunteering opportunities, extra time off… the list goes on.
