Discovery, Legacy Analysis & Migration Planning\nParticipate in structured discovery efforts across legacy systems.\nAnalyze existing application architectures, infrastructure dependencies, batch schedules, data flows, and integration points.\nContribute to formal system inventory documentation.\nIdentify cloud readiness gaps and modernization constraints.\nSupport classification of systems using the 7 Rs migration framework.\nProvide technical input into phased migration roadmaps and sequencing plans.\nAssess operational risk, integration complexity, and environment dependencies during modernization planning.\nDocument current-state (As-Is) technical architecture and assist in defining target-state (To-Be) environment patterns.\n2. Cloud Infrastructure & Environment Engineering\nDesign and implement AWS cloud environments aligned to enterprise provisioning constraints.\nDevelop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.\nEstablish repeatable environment patterns for development, testing, staging, and production.\nImplement secure network architecture (VPC segmentation, IAM least privilege, encryption).\nDesign for high availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery.\nAlign environment provisioning with migration waves and modernization sequencing.\n3. Python Engineering for Cloud-Native Applications (Required)\nDevelop and maintain Python-based cloud components including:\nServerless functions\nOrchestration utilities\nData validation and transformation scripts\nAutomation tooling\nWrite production-quality Python code with testability, logging, secure coding practices, and modular design.\nReview and support Python refactoring patterns during legacy modernization.\nEnsure Python runtime environments are reproducible and aligned with CI/CD standards.\n4. Cloud-Native Application Enablement\nImplement scalable AWS compute solutions (Lambda, ECS/EKS/Fargate, Glue, Aurora/PostgreSQL, S3, Batch).\nEvaluate serverless vs containerized approaches based on workload characteristics.\nSupport refactoring efforts by providing optimized cloud runtime patterns.\nImprove performance, scalability, and observability for data-intensive workloads.\n5. DevSecOps & CI/CD Implementation\nDesign and implement CI/CD pipelines integrating:\nAutomated builds\nUnit and integration tests\nRegression validation\nSecurity scanning\nEmbed quality and compliance gates into pipelines.\nAutomate environment provisioning and deployments.\nEnsure version-controlled infrastructure and reproducible deployments.\n6. Observability & Operational Readiness\nImplement monitoring, logging, and alerting standards.\nEstablish performance baselines and capacity thresholds.\nSupport load testing and scalability validation.\nDocument operational runbooks for sustained support.\n7. Cross-Team Integration Support\nSupport integration across multiple interdependent systems.\nAssist in identifying and mitigating interface risks.\nCollaborate with data engineering teams on schema stability and data lifecycle controls.\nEnsure consistency in cloud patterns across teams.\n8. Governance & Compliance Alignment\nContribute to architecture and environment documentation required for governance reviews.\nSupport ATO readiness and audit artifact collection.\nAlign cloud implementation with security and compliance requirements.\nMaintain traceable, auditable deployment documentation.\nCore Competencies\nAbility to translate discovery findings into technical related field.\n8+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering.\nAdvanced Python expertise for cloud-native applications and automation.\nDemonstrated experience performing legacy system analysis and cloud readiness assessments.\nExperience contributing to migration plans using structured frameworks (including 7 Rs).\nStrong AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, database, identity, and monitoring services.\nExperience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code.\nExperience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.\nStrong troubleshooting, performance optimization, and systems integration skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting data-intensive or statistical processing systems.\nExperience supporting SAS-to-Python modernization efforts.\nAWS
