Today, most automated tests still require humans to define test scenarios, write test cases, and maintain test suites. But what if AI could explore applications independently, generate meaningful test cases, and identify quality risks on its own?\nIn this thesis, you will investigate how AI can enhance software testing by autonomously discovering test scenarios or generating test cases directly from requirements.\nYour new assignment\nYou will explore how LLMs can be used to automate and improve software testing through one of two research tracks:\nAutonomous test agents that explore web applications, identify user flows, and generate Playwright test cases based on observed behavior.\n\nAI-driven test generation that transforms user stories and acceptance criteria into executable Playwright tests.\n\nThe thesis may include:\nDesigning and developing an AI-powered testing framework or prototype\n\nEvaluating the use of LLMs for test creation and validation\n\nInvestigating challenges such as hallucinations, assertion quality, and test coverage\n\nExploring how browser context, DOM structures, or API specifications can improve generated tests\n\nMeasuring the effectiveness of AI-generated tests against manually created alternatives\n\nThe deliverables are:\nA prototype framework for AI-assisted test generation or autonomous testing\n\nAn evaluation of test quality, coverage, and defect detection capabilities\n\nRecommendations for applying AI in quality assurance and software testing\n\nAn end report written in English\n\nWhat we'd like you to bring to the table\nWe think that you:\nAre currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field\n\nHave an interest in software quality, test automation, and AI-powered development tools\n\nAre curious about Large Language Models and emerging software engineering practices\n\nEnjoy experimenting, building prototypes, and evaluating their effectiveness\n\nAre fluent in English\n\nExperience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Playwright, web applications, or AI/ML is considered a plus.\n\nMore information\nInter IKEA Group is the group of companies that connects IKEA franchisees with range development and suppliers and aligns the overall IKEA strategic direction.
