We encourage you to stand up for yourself and others, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. We invite you to open new doors, embrace mistakes, and grow from them. As our Software Engineer, you’ll have many opportunities to try things you’ve never done before.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Digital Product Area ‘Simulation & Testing’, a part of Range Operations at Inter IKEA.

The Simulation & Testing Area develops and maintains digital solutions that support testing, validation, and simulation throughout IKEA's product development process. Together with our business partners, we enable smarter ways of working and help ensure that IKEA products meet high standards of quality, safety, performance, and sustainability.

We are growing our team in Malmö, Sweden, and we're looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with people from different backgrounds, experiences, and locations.

We're looking for a Software Engineer who wants to solve complex, real-world problems and create solutions that make everyday work simpler and better.

You will be part of a collaborative engineering team that develops and evolves digital products supporting IKEA's product development landscape. The impact of your work will help enable better products for the many people.

We believe that curiosity and willingness to learn are key ingredients for success. You'll be part of a team that values continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and learning from each other while contributing to meaningful solutions that support IKEA's product development journey.

On a typical day, you will:

  • Build and evolve digital solutions that support product development across IKEA.

  • Develop and maintain software applications, services, integrations, and cloud-based solutions.

  • Contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery and design to delivery and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders across different locations and time zones.

  • Help ensure high-quality software through code reviews, testing, automation, and modern engineering practices.

  • Share knowledge, support colleagues, and contribute to a culture of learning, openness, and collaboration.

  • Bring curiosity and new ideas that improve both our products and ways of working.

What we’d like you to bring to the table

The role as a Software Engineer requires you to:

  • Have experience developing modern software solutions and enjoy solving technical challenges.

  • Have experience working with software engineering practices such as version control, testing, automation, and continuous delivery.

  • Have an interest in cloud technologies and modern application development.

  • Enjoy working in agile and collaborative environments.

  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to communicate in a clear, structured, and honest way.

  • Have good interpersonal skills, including active listening, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coaching.

  • Be curious, eager to learn, and motivated by continuous improvement.

  • Take ownership and contribute positively to team outcomes.

  • Enjoy working together with others and helping people around you succeed.

  • Have a mindset and way of working that reflects IKEA values and cultural principles.

It’s a plus if you also have experience with:

  • Cloud platforms and services.

  • API development, integrations, or backend services.

  • Infrastructure as Code, automation, or DevOps practices.

  • Relational or document-based databases.

  • Working in distributed and global teams.

As a co-worker and a person, you are an essential part of our down-to-earth, playful, and inclusive culture, collaborating with others across roles, departments, and even across the globe. In this curious and optimistic environment, you’ll find endless opportunities to grow. Make us the home of your career.

We welcome your application

Get ready to assemble something new! We look forward to receiving your application by 23rd of October at the latest.

This is a permanent role based in Malmö; hence, you need to be based in Sweden and be able to work from the office. We believe that your presence with the team and working most of the time in the workplace are important.
