People like you!\nJob Description\nGeneral Description:\nA Mechanical Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning of mechanical equipment and machinery within IKO Glass Fiber’s facility. They are responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and conducting repairs to minimize downtime and maintain equipment efficiency.\nEssential Functions:\nMust have the ability & willingness to perform at the expected level of attendance at IKO South Inc.; to work every day, on time, as scheduled.\nPromote and maintain IKO safety goals and ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Leads safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions within department, assigned projects, and areas with goal of zero incidents. Exemplifies safety in all actions and leads by example.\nInspect, maintain, and service mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.\nConduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to identify and address potential problems.\nExecute mechanical repairs and replacements, ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations.\nInstall, upgrade, or modify mechanical systems and equipment as needed.\nKeep comprehensive records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.\nMaintain accurate records of mechanical maintenance tasks, including work orders and equipment manuals.\nIdentify and diagnose mechanical problems using various tools and equipment.\nDetermine the root cause of mechanical malfunctions and develop effective repair solutions.\nInterpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to locate and rectify issues.\nCollaborate with engineers and supervisors to implement improvements and enhancements.\nStrictly adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to prevent accidents and injuries.\nEnsure compliance with all applicable local, state, and national mechanical codes and regulations.\nOther duties as required.\nSkills:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent: technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.\nDemonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitude.\nStrong attention to detail and accuracy.\nKnowledge of industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols\nProven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance technician or similar role.\nStrong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and diagrams\nProficiency in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.\nWillingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency calls when necessary.\nBeneficial Experience and Skills:\nMechanical license or certification.\nTraining Requirements:\nAll training necessary to stay current in mechanical maintenance especially those of the preventive and predictive nature.\nAny training required by IKO.\nPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee daily to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nOccasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves objects up to 50 lbs.\nRegularly bends, stoops, stretches, and reaches to stock office supplies, etc.\nFrequently moves about the facility to survey plant and associates.\nRegularly operates computer and other office equipment.\nOccasionally attends meetings away from the office.\nRegularly work outside in various extreme weather conditions.\nPPE Requirements:\nIn plant areas, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields are required.
