Ortho Access walk-in clinics provide same day care for orthopedic injuries. Beginning in 2021, IBJI expanded its clinical model to include eight outpatient ambulatory surgery centers that serve as an alternative to the traditional hospital model, enabling physicians, therapists and staff to work closely together to achieve better patient outcomes and convenience. Comprehensive care offered all in one place enables physicians, therapists and staff to work closely together, so that patients and families achieve better outcomes. Collaborative care is also more efficient. This position is responsible for accurate registration, optimal patient scheduling, training/mentoring of new staff, escalating issues, and other office duties that contribute to a great patient experience, a positive team atmosphere, and achieve company goals.\nResponsibilities\nThis role requires availability to support as a FLOAT at the following clinics: Libertyville, Gurnee, Lindenhurst, Lake Bluff, Grayslake\nWelcome patients and visitors to IBJI by providing and maintaining the highest quality customer service experience\nPreparing paperwork to facilitate efficient operation and excellent customer service\nFace to face and over the phone patient contact as it relates to scheduling requests, collecting patient balances and communicating insurance benefits\nAnswering general inquiries\nAppointment scheduling\nPhone reception, patient triage, and escalation to appropriate staff\nRegistration/pre-registration procedures to include the review of patient demographics, insurance and advising patient to provide any necessary documents\nPreparing paperwork to facilitate efficient operation and excellent customer service\nCheck in/out procedures\nPatient chart management\nCollection/posting of patient responsibility payments (including copays and deductibles)\nInsurance verification and Referral management as required\nAssist in training staff and mentoring new employees within department\nMaintains clean and safe work environment\nOther office duties as assigned\nRequirements\nEducation\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\nAssociates degree preferred (healthcare concentration field a plus)\nExperience\nMinimum three years experience in customer service role required (medical office experience is a plus)\nMinimum 1 year in a patient services related role preferred\nEHR experience with Epic experience preferred\nSkills\nMust have open availability for opening, mid and closing shifts.\n Schedule - Monday through Friday (NO WEEKENDS)\nAvailable to support as a FLOAT at the following clinics: Libertyville, Gurnee, Lindenhurst, Lake Bluff, Grayslake\nOccasional travel to nearby clinics to assist with coverage\nCustomer Service skills in a fast paced, multifaceted public-engaging environment\nProfessional verbal and written communication\nTechnical proficiency to work with multiple software platforms\nKnowledge in medical terminology preferred\nAbility to handle highly confidential, sensitive and non-routine information\nFamiliarity with scheduling and rearranging appointments\nPossess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications.\nInsurance payer and eligibility knowledge\nMust be a team player\nAble to work in a fast-paced environment and have a flexible schedule as needed\nNeat, professional appearance\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nResults oriented with concern for appropriate process.\nWillingness to attend and successfully complete ongoing training required to maintain responsibilities.\nPhysical/Mental Demands\nWork may require hand dexterity for office machine operation; using a calculator and/or computer keyboard.\nPhysical demands may also include, stooping, bending or reaching to files and supplies, wearing a headset, mobility to complete errands or deliveries, sitting for extended periods of time and viewing a computer monitor.\nAbility to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally\nEnvironmental/Working Conditions\nMust be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of a changing scheduling environment and accommodate the needs of the practice.\nWork is performed in a fast paced office environment and involves frequent contact with physicians, staff, patients, and the public.\nThis description is intended to provide only basic guidelines for meeting job requirements.
