Algorithmic challenges in this area include compensating for signal impairments introduced by optical, chemical, and mechanical systems.\nImplementation challenges include managing parallel tasks, optimizing memory accesses, and improving the speed and accuracy of genomic base calling. We develop methods to address these challenges by focusing on high reliability, speed, and completeness of results. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team in developing analysis solutions for use by researchers and clinicians worldwide.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, prototype, and implement signal processing and bioinformatics algorithms\nAnalyze data and optimize software at the algorithm, design, and/or source code level\nCollaborate with external teams to ensure a smooth, end-to-end workflow with external organizations\nDevelop, debug, and integrate optimized C/C++ software on Linux for multi-threaded applications\nProvide technical leadership and represent the team at project and executive levels\nRequirements:\nExperience with signal processing, data analysis, and the application of statistical approaches\nExperience with C++ is preferred, but other languages (e.g., Java or C#) will also be considered (Minimum: intermediate level with understanding of object-oriented design)\nAbility to define the architecture, develop, and debug software applications\nStrong problem-solving skills\nPersonal initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team\nSuperior written and verbal communication skills\nBe curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly\nDesired:\nExperience with communications theory and information theory\nExperience with time-series analysis and interpretation of temporal data\nExperience with Python and Python visualization libraries\nExperience with multi-threaded software, real-time systems, and/or software acceleration\nFamiliarity with Agile software development processes (e.g. Scrum)\nExperience with using version control systems such as Git\nEducation & Experience:\nMaster’s degree or PhD in bioinformatics, biology, engineering, physical sciences, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent\nMinimum 6 years of related experience with a Master’s degree\nThe estimated base salary range for the Staff Bioinformatics Scientist role based in the United States of America is: $155,600 - $233,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long-term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
