If you want to do the best work of your career in legal tech, we'd love to build with you.\nThe Role\nWe're looking for a Financial Controller to own ILS's financial reporting, controls and compliance as we scale across the UK and US.This is a hands-on role, working closely with the founders, our external accountants and the wider leadership team.\nYou'll have the opportunity to build the finance function of a fast-growing SaaS business and give the founders and board the numbers they need to make decisions.\nAs ILS continues to grow, the role is likely to develop too, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, bringing ideas and getting involved.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nFinancial reporting\nRun the month-end close and produce monthly management accounts.\nPrepare board and investor reporting.\nTrack performance against budget and explain variances.\nControls and compliance\nPrepare statutory accounts with our external accountants.\nManage VAT, payroll, corporation tax and R&D tax credit claims.\nPut in place and maintain controls over payments, approvals and spending.\nCash and planning\nProduce cash flow forecasts and manage cash across GBP and USD accounts.\nOversee customer billing and collections, and payments to suppliers and contractors.\nSupport budgeting, financial planning and investor due diligence.\nWorking with the wider team\nWork closely with the founders, HR and team leads on budgets and headcount.\nShare ideas and contribute to wider company priorities.\nHelp improve processes and ways of working as the business grows.\nWhat We're Looking For\nWe're looking for someone who is rigorous, hands-on and commercially minded, and comfortable working in a growing business where things are still being built.You'll ideally have:\nA professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).\nExperience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role at a growing technology business.\nExperience with Xero or a similar accounting system.\nExperience managing multi-currency accounts and international payments.\nStrong Excel and financial modelling skills.\nClose attention to detail and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.\nIt would be great if you also have:Experience of SaaS revenue recognition and subscription metrics.\nExperience preparing R&D tax credit claims.\nExperience paying international contractors.\nExperience supporting a fundraising due diligence process.\nYou don't need to tick every box.
