You’ll work closely with front-end engineers, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure back-end systems serving global enterprise clients.The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in Python/Django, AWS services, and distributed systems design, with a focus on performance, maintainability, and clean architecture.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nDesign and implement RESTful APIs using Python 3.10+ and Django 4.x / Django REST Framework.\nDevelop scalable data models and queries with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.\nBuild background workers and asynchronous tasks using Celery, SQS, and Lambda.\nIntegrate AWS services (S3, SNS/SQS, CloudFront, ECS, RDS) into application workflows.\nParticipate in code reviews and maintain clean, secure, and well-documented services.\nCollaborate with DevOps to improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.\nContribute to architecture discussions, scalability planning, and performance optimisation.\nMust-Have Requirements\n10+ years of experience in software development, preferably in SaaS environments.\nStrong expertise in Python (3.10+), Django (4.x), and Django REST Framework, with solid REST API development experience.\nStrong system design and software architecture skills, with experience building scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems on AWS.\nHands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure, including ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and RDS.\nStrong experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Celery, and messaging systems such as SQS/SNS.\nExperience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum environments, and modern development best practices.\nEnglish at B2+ level, sufficient for daily communication with the team.\nPreferred Requirements\nExperience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS developer tooling.\nKnowledge of authentication frameworks, role-based access control, and multi-tenant architecture/design patterns.\nUnderstanding of testing frameworks, linting, and pre-commit workflows (GitHub CI, pytest, Ruff, etc.).\nA pragmatic engineering mindset with a focus on reliability and clean architecture.\nStrong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional Agile teams.\nA proactive approach to improving codebases and developer experience.\nStrong analytical skills and attention to detail when solving problems.\nExperience with text/document processing libraries such as pdfplumber, PyPDF2, or docxtpl.\nFamiliarity with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Sentry, Prometheus), as well as secure key management solutions (KMS, SOPS).\nPersonal Attributes\nStrong ownership mindset and ability to work independently on complex tasks.\nProactive problem-solving approach, with the ability to identify risks and suggest practical solutions.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\nPragmatic mindset, balancing technical quality, business needs, and delivery priorities.\nWillingness to share knowledge and contribute to high engineering standards.\nWillingness to improve the codebase, architecture, and development process.\nHow We Work\nWe work in Scrum, with several development teams working on the same platform.\nAll requirements are well described by QA and BA in Jira/Confluence.\nDevelopment is highly supported by AI tooling with mandatory human review.\nThe architect supports architectural decisions and oversees system consistency.\nManual and automated QA to ensure regression is not introduced.\nMultitenant, scheduled releases, handled by the Delivery team.\nEqual Opportunities\nILS is committed to providing an inclusive and fair recruitment process.
