In order to unlock everyone's perfect place, we are taking all the knowledge and experience we have gained over the years to renew our apps and create new products that will be scalable across all European countries.\nTo achieve this, our international teams share their experience, cultures and beliefs to build the next generation of real estate apps in Europe.\nAs true experts in native technologies, we are recruiting the best engineers in Europe to take on this challenge, and we're looking for team players who are not afraid to learn, share, and collaborate transparently in a trustful environment.\nIn this role, you will:\nTeam Leadership & People Development\nLead and grow a high-performing mobile engineering team (4-9 engineers) spanning iOS and Android, providing clear direction, focus, and context\n\nHire, mentor, and develop engineers through continuous feedback and performance conversations, regardless of their platform specialisation\n\nFoster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and engineering excellence across both platforms\n\nEnsure accountability for outcomes, quality, and predictable delivery\n\nDelivery & Execution\nOwn end-to-end delivery, including planning, prioritisation, and dependency management across iOS and Android workstreams\n\nProactively manage risks, remove blockers, and ensure timely execution\n\nPartner with Product to define roadmaps and OKRs\n\nCommunicate progress, trade-offs, and outcomes to stakeholders\n\nTechnical Leadership (hands-on ~40%)\nContribute to architecture, prototypes, and critical code paths where your background allows, regardless of platform\n\nValidate technical solutions across service design, integrations, and data models shared between iOS and Android\n\nEnsure alignment between technical initiatives and product priorities\n\nEnsure close collaboration between product and tech, starting with you and the product managers in your team\n\nEngineering Excellence\nContinuously improve engineering practices (code reviews, testing, CI/CD, observability, incident management) across both mobile platforms\n\nBuild scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems following clean architecture principles\n\nDrive performance optimisation and cost efficiency\n\nChampion modern development practices, including AI-assisted workflows\n\nFocus yourself and your team on outcomes rather than activity, aggressively prioritising what the team works on\n\nThe skills you bring:\n5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with exposure to mobile development (iOS, Android, or both)\n\n2+ years of people management experience with ownership of team outcomes\n\nProven track record of delivering high-quality software in a predictable way\n\nA deep understanding of engineering principles and practices relevant to the mobile domain - you don't need to be a specialist in both iOS and Android, but you're technically confident enough to understand the ins and outs of a project and the associated issues on either platform\n\nExperience mentoring engineers on best practices, including those working on a platform you're less familiar with\n\nAbility to balance process and pragmatism - improving quality without adding unnecessary complexity\n\nAbility to collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise projects based on business impact and technical feasibility, and to define project scope, objectives, and success criteria\n\nExperience with modern cloud environments (AWS or similar), CI/CD, and containerisation\n\nFamiliarity with observability and operational excellence practices\n\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills (English required; German is a plus)\n\nCuriosity and adaptability to quickly learn new technologies and domains\n\nOur Tech stack:\nOur mobile stack includes native iOS (Swift) and native Android (Kotlin), backed by services built with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB, ECS/Fargate), Docker, GitHub, CircleCI, and Terraform.\nLocation & setup\nBerlin, Germany\n\nCross-functional product team, covering both iOS and Android\n\nHands-on leadership role combining technical contribution and people management\n\nAt AVIV, we are an equal opportunities employer and an organisation where everyone is welcomed to be their authentic selves.
