Come help us build technology and solutions that enable businesses to visualize everything, waste nothing and act instantly.\nTeam Overview:\nImpinj is seeking a Senior Staff Software/DevOps Engineer specializing in cloud infrastructure and reliability to join our Solutions Software organization to design, build, and operate the cloud platform that manages our RFID readers at scale. In this position, you will work hands-on across application code and infrastructure, in close collaboration with the senior engineers on the team, to scale, harden, and monitor a platform that serves very large reader fleets.\nWe’re building a high-caliber software team from the ground up with uncompromising standards for quality, velocity, and close, cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work across the full technology stack (frontend, backend, mobile, databases, event sourcing, MQTT, PKI/certificates, IoT) alongside collaborators from diverse disciplines including design, firmware, and silicon.\nWhat You Will Do:\nDesign and build infrastructure that scales automatically to handle connection surges of up to a million RFID readers\nDesign for resilience to cloud regional outages, including multi-region deployment, failover, and disaster recovery\nWrite production code in Rust and TypeScript for backend services, APIs, and data pipelines\nProfile and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues across the system\nBuild and maintain infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, secrets and certificate management, deployment, and environment management\nBuild monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting for production systems, and handle incident response\nBuild and operate event-driven systems using event sourcing, message queues, and MQTT\nDrive technical strategy for infrastructure and present proposals to engineering, product, and executive leadership\nTake primary ownership of infrastructure and operations, partnering with senior engineers who build and ship alongside you\nLead cross-functional technical initiatives with engineering, product, and other Impinj teams where our platform intersects with theirs\nEstablish engineering best practices and patterns that increase team velocity and ensure long-term scalability\nMentor and coach engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance\nLead the team’s adoption of AI tools and practices for building, testing, and operating software\nWhat You Will Bring:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience\nTypically requires 12+ years of professional software development experience\nExperience developing production application code as well as designing and operating cloud infrastructure\nDeep expertise in cloud platforms, containers and orchestration, infrastructure as code, networking, security, and observability\nStrong understanding of scaling, load management, consistency, and failure modes in distributed systems\nProven track record of building and operating systems at scale, with detailed examples of problems you solved\nDemonstrated history of delivering results on new, ambiguous, or difficult technical problems\nDemonstrated history of increasing technical scope and influence, including mentoring engineers and leading initiatives across teams\nStrong collaboration and communication skills, with a record of helping teammates succeed\nDemonstrated use of AI tools to improve the speed and quality of engineering work\nExperience with Azure, event sourcing, IoT device fleets, or embedded software preferred\nDeep expertise in Rust preferred\nCompensation & Benefits:\n[Review the Total Rewards documentation to find the applicable salary/hourly range for the role. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers.
