Our AI-powered platform acts as a field force multiplier: extending reach between rep visits, prioritizing the highest-impact path for each physician, and connecting HCPs to coverage, evidence, medical information, patient support, MSLs, field teams, samples, and approved content in the moments that matter.\nFounded by a practicing physician and a senior pharmaceutical executive, Impiricus was built to accelerate patient access to life-saving treatments through ethical, physician-first engagement. More than one million opted-in HCPs trust Impiricus as a preferred channel, including many who are underserved or hard to reach through traditional outreach. Guided by our Physician Advisory Board, we keep engagement clinically meaningful, compliant, and grounded in better patient care.\nJob Summary\n\n The Director, Product Design is a player-coach role: the team, the practice, and hands-on work on the most impactful product surfaces. That means user discovery, UX, UI, prototyping, and the standards that keep experiences coherent across mobile, web, and platform.\nMarketing owns brand design, marketing creative, and the corporate website. This role does not. Everything here is product: what HCPs, patients, and internal users see and do in Ascend, DocUpdate, Curate, and the internal tools our teams build on, including the homegrown AI surfaces that ship inside the product org.\nThe Director runs discovery with users, sets the bar for craft, and manages designers as the function grows. AI is part of the job, not a side project. The team designs AI-assisted and agentic product experiences, and maintains the design framework (components, patterns, tokens, interaction rules) so it can be applied in product UI and incorporated into internal AI build tools, including Sage and other homegrown platforms.\nOn product teams, this role is the design partner in the triad with the product lead and engineering lead. PM experience helps but is not required. Running discovery and operating as a peer to PM and engineering is.\nKey Responsibilities\nProduct Design Leadership\nOwn product design across the portfolio and set the bar for the function.\nStay hands-on on the highest-stakes surfaces when the team needs senior design depth.\nHold released product to a consistent standard for clarity, accessibility, and workflow fit.\nCover mobile, consumer-grade interaction where it applies, and complex health tech platform work in one practice.\nUser Discovery\nPlan and run user discovery with HCPs, patients, and internal users, and hold the team to the same bar on their surfaces.\nTurn research and feedback into design direction the product team can act on.\nBuild durable understanding of physician and operator workflow and bring it into roadmap conversations early.\nPartner with Product on measurement so experience changes can be judged after launch.\nDesign System, Framework, and AI Design\nOwn the product design system: components, patterns, tokens, and how they are governed in production.\nMaintain and extend the design framework so standards stay usable in code and in AI-assisted build flows, including homegrown tools the company builds on.\nDesign AI-powered product experiences where the roadmap requires them: conversational flows, agent interactions, and the UX guardrails that keep those surfaces trustworthy in a regulated context.\nPartner with AI and engineering leadership on platform and builder UI so design quality does not stop at traditional product screens.\nEstablish critique, review, and quality standards for the whole design team, including work on AI surfaces.\nCross-Functional Partnership\nPartner with the product lead(s) and engineering lead(s) from discovery through delivery on each scrum team.\nRepresent design in product planning so experience risk and opportunity show up before build starts.\nPartner with Engineering on feasibility, implementation fidelity, and front-end delivery.\nPartner with Compliance and MLR where regulatory requirements shape product UI, including fair balance and required disclosure in the interface.\nQualifications & Experience\n7+ years in product design with a portfolio of complex, workflow-heavy shipped products.\nExperience across mobile and web, including platform or multi-surface products.\nHealth tech, life sciences, or other regulated product design experience strongly preferred.\nTrack record owning a design system or framework in production, not a library that never shipped.\nExperience designing for AI-assisted, conversational, or agentic product surfaces, or equivalent platform/builder UI.\nTrack record running user discovery, not only taking requirements from PM.\nExperience managing designers or standing up a small design function.\nStrong hands-on craft in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping; comfortable as a player-coach, not a manager who stepped out of the work.\nCredible partner to product and engineering leadership without needing to own the PM role.\nProduct management experience is a plus, not a requirement.\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000\nWhere you land within the range will reflect your skills, experience, and location, while keeping team parity in mind and leaving room for future growth.\nImportant Notice\nTo protect candidates, please note that all communication from our team will come directly from an @impiricus.com email address.
