Each one works. Together they're a maintenance surface nobody owns, and every new request kicks off the same argument about where the thing should live.\nImprovix Technologies is hiring a Senior Full Stack .NET Developer to be the person who settles that argument. You'll own architecture and tooling decisions across a portfolio of .NET and modern web applications on a high-visibility federal program - defining the patterns, setting the standards, running the roadmap for modernization, and making the call on when low-code is genuinely the right answer and when it's a trap with a short time-to-demo.\nYou'll stay hands-on. This is not an architect title that quietly means you stopped writing code - you'll prototype, unblock developers, and take critical-path work yourself. Three days a week onsite in DC, two remote.\nWHY SENIOR ENGINEERS TAKE THIS ROLE\nYou set the standards rather than inherit them. Patterns, coding standards, review process, technology selection. You're not applying someone else's architecture decisions - you're making them, and you'll be expected to defend them.\nThe build-versus-buy call is actually yours. Power Apps or custom build, Dataverse or SQL, modernize or leave it alone. You make the recommendation, you own the outcome, and nobody overrules it from a slide.\nModernization with a real mandate. Migrating legacy SharePoint-backed systems is funded, scheduled work on this program - not a someday item that loses to the next feature request.\nYou stay in the code. Prototyping, unblocking, and critical-path code are in the job description because they're in the job. Technical judgment that stops being refreshed by building goes stale fast.\nMentorship that counts as work. Growing the mid-level and junior developers is a named responsibility with time attached, not something you squeeze in after hours.\nWHAT YOU'LL OWN\nArchitecture & Technical Direction\nOwn the technical architecture for full stack applications built on .NET (C#/ASP.NET Core), React, and modern web frameworks - defining the patterns, standards, and practices the team builds against.\nEvaluate, select, and recommend tools, frameworks, libraries, and platforms, weighing scalability, maintainability, security, and total cost of ownership - and articulate the reasoning, including to people who will disagree with it.\nLead technical design reviews and make the architectural calls that keep a mixed portfolio coherent instead of merely functional.\nDefine and maintain technical roadmaps for application modernization, including migration of legacy SharePoint-backed systems to modern architectures.\nIdentify and remediate technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and security risks across the portfolio - ideally before they become incidents.\nFull Stack Development\nDesign, build, and maintain highly interactive, responsive web applications using React, ASP.NET Core, and Azure cloud services.\nPrototype solutions, unblock developers, and contribute code on critical-path items.\nBuild and maintain data access and persistence with MS SQL and Entity Framework, including schema design for enterprise applications.\nDesign, implement, and maintain scalable, reusable automated test frameworks for web UIs and front-end components - frameworks other people can extend, not scripts only you can run.\nUse AI-assisted development tooling across the lifecycle, and set the standards for how the team uses it well.\nMicrosoft Platform Strategy\nProvide architectural oversight for Power Platform solutions - guiding when Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), Power Automate, and Dataverse are the right fit, and when custom development is the honest answer.\nEstablish data architecture and governance patterns for Dataverse: table design, relationships, business rules, and security role models.\nLead SharePoint modernization across SharePoint Online and legacy SharePoint (2013 or newer).\nKeep the low-code estate governed so it stays an asset rather than turning into shadow IT with a Microsoft logo on it.\nIntegration & API Strategy\nGuide API strategy and integration architecture - RESTful service design, authentication patterns, and service-oriented design.\nArchitect integrations across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and external systems.\nDefine identity and access patterns against Active Directory and enterprise identity services.\nEngineering Practice & Quality\nEstablish coding standards and own the code review process, so quality is consistent across the team rather than dependent on who happened to write it.\nImprove CI/CD pipelines, branching strategy, and release management to support frequent, reliable deployments - GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar.\nBuild application security into the design rather than into a remediation ticket filed after the scan.\nSupport deployment activities, including the occasional weekend release window.\nTeam Leadership\nMentor mid-level and junior developers through knowledge transfer sessions, pairing, and review that teaches rather than just approves.\nPartner with program leadership, government stakeholders, and technical leads to translate mission requirements into achievable technical solutions.\nPresent technical recommendations to engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders, and leave both audiences understanding the tradeoff.\nWHAT YOU BRING\nThese are the requirements - everything in “Bonus Points” below is genuinely optional. If you meet this list, apply.\n8+ years of progressive .NET development experience (C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Core), including time setting technical direction for other developers.\nStrong command of full stack architecture, including modern frontend frameworks (React or similar), RESTful API design, and service-oriented patterns.\nDemonstrated ownership of architecture and technology selection decisions for enterprise applications - and the ability to explain the reasoning behind them.\nHands-on Microsoft Power Platform experience - Power Apps (canvas and/or model-driven), Power Automate, and Power BI - with the judgment to know when low-code is and isn't the right answer.\nExperience leading SharePoint modernization or migration, with familiarity across SharePoint Online and legacy SharePoint (2013 or newer).\nDeep experience with MS SQL, Entity Framework, and database design for enterprise applications.\nTest automation experience with xUnit plus Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium, including building reusable frameworks rather than one-off scripts.\nProven experience establishing or maturing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar).\nHands-on use of AI-assisted development tooling to accelerate end-to-end delivery.\nCloud services experience supporting web application deployment and management.\nExperience running code reviews, setting coding standards, and mentoring development teams.\nStrong understanding of application security concepts, Active Directory, and identity and access patterns in enterprise environments.\nWorking familiarity with Microsoft 365 - SharePoint Online, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and OneDrive - in a collaborative enterprise environment.\nExcellent communication skills, able to present a technical recommendation to an engineering team and a non-technical stakeholder in the same meeting.\nU.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance.\nAbility to work onsite in Washington, DC three days per week, including occasional Saturday hours for deployment activities.\nBONUS POINTS\nArchitecting solutions in Azure, including deployments in a federal or FedRAMP context.\nDataverse for Teams, and Power Apps embedded in Microsoft Teams.\nTypeScript across the frontend, Node.js development, or both.\nContainerization and orchestration - Docker, Kubernetes, or similar.\nIntegrating AI or LLM capabilities into applications, or AI-assisted tooling into team workflows.\nWorking knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards.\nPrior experience supporting federal programs and working inside government security and compliance frameworks.\nMicrosoft certifications - Azure Solutions Architect, Power Platform Solution Architect, or equivalent.\nWORKING HERE\nImprovix Technologies delivers secure, modern, integrated technology solutions that keep the nation's most critical systems running. We're small enough that a good idea reaches a decision-maker in a day, and close enough to the mission that you'll know exactly what your work supports.\nA straight answer on schedule: three days onsite in Washington, DC and two remote, and occasional Saturday hours when a deployment window requires them. The weekend time is genuinely occasional and tied to releases, not a standing expectation - but it is real, and we'd rather you hear it now than in week three.\nWhat “senior” means here: you'll set direction and you'll still write code. We're small enough that an architect who only reviews other people's work isn't a role we can justify, and honest enough to say that the balance shifts week to week. Some weeks are design reviews and roadmap. Some weeks you're in the repo at 6pm because the critical path runs through you.\nOn the low-code question: we use Power Platform and we'll keep using it. The job isn't to purge it - it's to govern it, so the quick win somebody shipped last year doesn't become next year's outage with no owner. If your honest position is that all low-code is a mistake, you'll spend this job frustrated.\nReady to apply? Send us your résumé. If there's a legacy system you modernized without breaking it, a standard you set that outlasted you, or a low-code solution you talked someone out of (or into), tell us about it - that's the conversation we want to have.\nWHY IMPROVIX\nAt Improvix Technologies, we don't just deliver IT solutions - we deliver mission success.
