This role independently delivers complex infrastructure solutions and assumes ownership of core platform areas across hybrid datacenter and cloud environments.\nEngineers at this level are expected to move beyond implementation into solution design, automation development, and long-term platform improvement. The Systems Engineer II plays a key role in improving scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency while ensuring infrastructure aligns with organizational security and compliance requirements.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with established architectural standards. \nOwn and maintain core infrastructure platforms such as virtualization, identity, storage, or cloud services. Lead complex system deployments, upgrades, and migrations. \nEngineer highly available and resilient systems supporting operational workloads.\nEvaluate performance and capacity requirements and implement improvements. \nDevelop and maintain standardized infrastructure configurations. \nImprove system consistency across environments through engineering best practices. \nEstablish deployment patterns and operational baselines. \nReduce configuration drift through structured platform management. \nDesign and implement automation for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management. \nDevelop reusable scripts and tooling to reduce operational overhead. \nContribute to infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices. \nImprove deployment reliability through automation and validation workflows.\nLead resolution of complex infrastructure incidents involving multiple systems. \nPerform deep technical analysis to identify systemic issues. \nImplement engineering improvements that prevent recurrence. \nSupport incident response activities requiring cross-team coordination. \nDesign infrastructure solutions aligned with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.\nImplement secure configuration baselines and identity controls. \nSupport audit readiness through proper system configuration and documentation. \nEnsure infrastructure supports controlled and regulated data environments. \nProvide technical guidance to administrators and junior engineers. \nCollaborate with network engineering, security, and application teams. \nParticipate in technical planning and infrastructure roadmap discussions. \nContribute to internal engineering standards and best practices. \n\nMinimum Qualifications\n6+ years experience implementing and supporting enterprise infrastructure. \nDemonstrated experience designing infrastructure solutions independently. \nAdvanced Windows Server administration and platform knowledge. \nWorking proficiency administering Linux systems. \nExperience designing and operating virtualization environments. \nStrong automation and scripting experience (PowerShell required). \nProven ability to troubleshoot complex multi-system issues. \nSolid understanding of infrastructure dependencies and networking fundamentals. \n\nPreferred Skills and Experience\n8+ years experience implementing and supporting enterprise infrastructure. \nExperience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or lab infrastructure. \nExperience integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud platforms. \nEnterprise storage architecture experience. \nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tooling. \nExperience operating within regulated or compliance-driven environments. \n\nAdditional Information:\nCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.\nImpulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
