The role handles many small projects at once as well as large multi-site and multi-company programs.\nThis is a hands-on delivery role. The Project Engineer is accountable for completing projects to scope, on schedule, and fully documented, leaving each environment ready for Service to support.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Microsoft 365 & Identity\nImplement identity and access management, including Entra ID, MFA, and conditional access. \nPerform Microsoft 365 tenant setup and migrations. \nDeploy and configure Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams. \nConfigure Microsoft 365 licensing and security settings. \nDesign, clean up, and consolidate Active Directory environments. \nManage Entra Connect sync, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. \n 2. Cloud, Server & Infrastructure\nDeploy and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Azure infrastructure. \nBuild and support Hyper-V, VMware, and remote desktop environments. \nExecute Windows Server builds, upgrades, and migrations. \nDeploy file and print services. \nDeploy backup and disaster recovery solutions. \nDeploy business applications, including CRM, ERP, and line-of-business systems. \n3. Network & Endpoint Deployment\nDeploy and configure firewalls, switches, and wireless. \nConfigure VLANs, VPNs, and ISP circuits. \nDeliver new-site network buildouts. \nExecute device deployments and refreshes. \nEnroll devices through Intune and Autopilot, and manage application rollouts. \nConduct site surveys and network assessments. \n4. Security & Compliance\nRoll out MFA, EDR, and backup across client environments. \nDeliver compliance-driven builds, including GCC, CMMC, and CJIS. \n 5. Project Execution & Post Go-Live Support\nParticipate in project kickoff meetings to align on scope, timelines, expectations, and risks. \nScope projects and prepare estimates. \nComplete assigned tasks as defined in client Statements of Work (SOWs). \nBuild test, cutover, and rollback plans. \nProvide post go-live support to stabilize and optimize client environments. \nComplete a QC'd handoff to service. \n6. Project Communication, Documentation & Automation\nSend weekly client-facing project status updates and participate in check-in meetings. \nCommunicate proactively with clients and internal teams about changes, outages, and project impacts. \nCollaborate with third-party vendors and co-managed IT teams, and drive issues to resolution. \nMaintain clear and thorough documentation of systems, configurations, and project processes. \nRecord daily time entries, expenses, and work notes in ConnectWise. \nParticipate in project debriefs and continuous improvement efforts. \nUse PowerShell and other tools to automate repetitive work. \nDirect Reports & Organizational Scope\nThe IT Project Engineer is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. Scope includes:\nProject Range - Many small concurrent projects as well as large multi-site and multi-company programs.\nClient Engagement - Kickoffs, weekly status updates, check-in meetings, and post go-live support.\nVendor Coordination - Working with ISPs, manufacturers, other vendors, and co-managed IT teams to resolve project issues.\nService Handoff - Documentation and QC'd transition of completed projects to Service.\nRole Boundaries\n\nThe IT Project Engineer owns the technical delivery of assigned client projects, including scoping, estimates, planning, execution, post go-live support, documentation, and handoff to service.\nThis role does not own ongoing day-to-day support of client environments after handoff, which transitions to Service Delivery.\nThis role works closely with Project Management, Service Delivery, clients, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered on scope, on schedule, and ready to support.\n\nSkills, Knowledge & Expertise\n4+ years in IT infrastructure, including at least 2 years delivering client projects at an MSP or in consulting. \nHas led Microsoft 365, server, or network projects from start to finish. \nMSP service-desk experience is a strong plus. \nStrong written and verbal communication skills with clients and internal teams. \nAbility to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. \nSelf-driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision. \nExcellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. \n Preferred Skills\nHands-on depth in Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, or Azure Virtual Desktop. \nFortinet, Meraki, or similar firewall, switching, and wireless platforms. \nPowerShell scripting and automated deployments using IaC (Bicep, Terraform, etc.). \nAzure infrastructure and migration tools. \nBackup and disaster recovery platforms such as Datto, Veeam, and Axcient. \nVoIP and business phone systems. \nLine-of-business applications such as Sage, QuickBooks, and other SQL-backed applications. \nConnectWise or similar PSA platforms. \nService-desk experience that has built strong troubleshooting skills. \n Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)\nMicrosoft: MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator), SC-300 (Identity and Access Administrator), AZ-104 (Azure Administrator). \nFortinet: FCP or NSE 4 level. \nCompTIA Network+. \n\nThis job description is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position.
