This is a varied role, with hands on operational supervision for the Grounds Maintenance and Arboriculture services. You will be responsible for monitoring progress and performance, providing training to staff and ensuring colleagues are providing an exceptional services to our customers.\nAbout us\nWe are a social housing landlord and one of the largest housing providers in the region with over 22,000 social and affordable homes, mainly in the Bradford district. Our customers sit at the heart of what we do, and our colleagues are the people who’ll help us achieve our vision, which is to create the best customer experience to improve everyday lives.\nDuties include:\nProvide effective and efficient hands-on operational supervision of the ground’s maintenance and arboriculture service. \nWork with customers to help resolve work related complaints and maintenance issues.\nOrganise and supervise the works of grounds maintenance and environmental services teams on a daily basis. To keep, maintain necessary paperwork and update records of work in progress and completed, including use of digital platforms. \nPre-plan resources against scheduled work in liaison with grounds maintenance manager against scheduled work programmes. \nCarry out the full range of environmental works including soft and hard landscaping. \nMaintain standards by checking work in progress and when completed and manage any instances of poor productivity and poor quality in line with the appropriate procedures and policy.\nUse a variety of grounds maintenance and arboriculture machinery, equipment and hand tools. \nEnsure all vehicles and machinery are checked for defects by drivers at the beginning and end of each working day, and that defects are recorded and addressed accordingly.\nManage a large team of grounds maintenance and arboricultural colleagues including full timers, agency workers and trainees and develop good working relationship with colleagues, positively encouraging, supporting and assisting new starters and customers.\nDeal with and resolve day to day team issues and concerns, including colleague performance reviews, one to ones and any disciplinary concerns in line with appropriate HR policies and procedures referring only more complex issues to your line manager.\nRequired to drive a range of distances on a daily basis including hitch, unhitch trailers.\nDeliver Health & Safety training and toolbox talks covering a wide remit of grounds maintenance and land-based activities and monitor HAVs, Noise and Dermatitis related issues identifying any training needs as they arise.\nRequirements\nSubstantial experience in horticultural, arboriculture, work programming, inspection and monitoring\nPractical experience of supervising teams of operatives and contractors.\nExperience delivering training programmes and toolbox talks.\nGood knowledge of Health & Safety at work regulations: inc safe site working practices and the use of machinery and tools.\nAbility to communicate clearly and effective to help resolve any grounds maintenance issues or concerns.\nHave a general knowledge of COSHH, PWUER, LOLER, Slips & Trip hazards.\nExperience of dealing with members of the public including face to face, on the telephone.\nAbility to use and calibrate a variety of pesticide spraying equipment e.g. handheld knapsack sprayers, CDA systems, including power operated lance sprayers.\nValid manual UK driving license with the capability to drive various vehicles, including wagons, transits, vans, ride-on mowers, and trailers. \nCommutable distance of BD2\nRight to Work in the UK - Visa sponsorship is not available. \nBenefits\nStarting salary of £29,978 which increases with service upto £33,415 per year \nWork vehicle will be provided\nSocial Housing Pension Scheme - Up-to 10% employer contribution \n28 days annual leave that increases with service plus bank holidays \nOption to buy and sell annual leave \nTraining, development, and qualification opportunities\nOur Hub: our wellbeing and benefits site, with exclusive access to discounts and savings (at over 800 retailers)\nCorporate health scheme membership\nAccess to an Employee Assistance Programme\nCycle to work scheme\nLocal gym membership discounts.\nA team of trained Mental Health First Aiders who are available for colleagues to contact for support\nJoin Our Team!\nWe’re looking for great people to join us!
