Software Engineer – FullStack, Mobile & Data

We are looking for a Software Engineer - Full Stack, Mobile & Data to join an R&D project spanning Android and web applications, backend services, data processing, ML and AWS infrastructure. You will work across the software development lifecycle - from understanding requirements and designing solutions, through implementation and automated testing, to deployment and maintenance.

The role combines hands-on application development with contributions to data workflows, integrations and cloud infrastructure. You will work across TypeScript, Python and Kotlin repositories, developing new functionality while maintaining and extending existing solutions.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology in our stack. We are looking for strong engineering fundamentals, depth in at least one area and practical experience delivering beyond your primary specialisation. Working across mobile, web, backend, data and infrastructure-related tasks is an essential part of this role.

Your daily responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application functionality across Android, web and backend components, working with Kotlin, TypeScript and Python depending on the task.
• Build and extend data ingestion and transformation workflows, including SQL-based processing and data quality checks, and contribute to analytical outputs and dashboards.
• Implement integrations between applications, APIs and data sources, working with serialization formats and schemas, and troubleshoot issues across system boundaries.
• Read and extend existing AWS infrastructure and delivery workflows, including serverless components, Terraform configuration, Docker-based workloads and CI/CD pipelines.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented and testable code, maintain unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews and improve security, reliability, observability and performance.
• Translate product and business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with the team and stakeholders, contribute to technical design decisions and take ownership of changes through implementation, validation and deployment.

We need you to have

• Strong commercial software development experience in at least one of TypeScript, Python or Kotlin, with a solid track record in web/backend applications, data processing solutions or Android development.
• Practical experience in a second programming language or technical domain, with examples of learning unfamiliar technologies and delivering changes beyond your main specialization.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including software design, automated testing, debugging and maintainable code, together with a working understanding of APIs, SQL, data modeling and asynchronous processing.
• The ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and understand existing infrastructure, investigate dependencies and make safe, well-understood changes rather than relying only on building new solutions from scratch.
• Practical experience with cloud-based applications, Git, Docker and CI/CD, and an understanding of how application code, deployment configuration and infrastructure fit together. Experience with AWS and Terraform is an advantage.
• Willingness to work hands-on across the full scope of the project, including mobile, frontend, backend, data processing and infrastructure-related tasks, while recognizing when to investigate further or seek support.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and a good command of English, both spoken and written.

• Mobile / Android: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Hilt, Room, Coroutines, OkHttp/Retrofit, Gradle KTS, Firebase, mobile application security.
• Frontend / Web: React, TypeScript, Tailwind, monorepo tooling with Turborepo, pnpm and Rsbuild.
• Backend / APIs: Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, TypeORM.
• Data engineering: PySpark, AWS Glue, JDBC ingestion, Docker-packaged jobs, Apache Iceberg, dbt-core, medallion architecture, Elementary; SQL with Athena/Presto and PostgreSQL.
• Data analysis and BI: Jupyter, pandas/NumPy, statistical analysis, ML fundamentals, Apache Superset.
• Cloud / Serverless: AWS Glue, S3, RDS, Athena, IAM, networking and hosting; AWS Lambda with Python, Lambda Powertools, X-Ray tracing and Lambda layers; API Gateway and EventBridge.
• Infrastructure and delivery: Terraform, Docker, Bitbucket Pipelines CI/CD; maintaining and extending existing infrastructure.
• Integration and schemas: Protobuf, JSON Schema; working across Kotlin, Python and TypeScript repositories.
