A Bachelor’s degree is required, and teaching experience is preferred.\nIf you're committed to making a meaningful impact and thrive in a collaborative learning environment, we encourage you to apply today!\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nTeaching reading, English, social studies, science, math and computer skills to individuals who are functioning below the 12th grade level to prepare for the official GED ® Exam;\nCreating and developing curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials;\nIntegrating computer-aided instruction into lessons as appropriate;\nMonitoring and assessing students’ progress on a regular basis.\nQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:\nMinimum of a Bachelor’s Degree\nA minimum of 12 months teaching experience preferred;\nFlexibility in work hours;\nComputer proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and the internet; \nAbility to communicate and work effectively with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds;\nAbility to pay close attention to detail as well as the possession of good judgment and a strong work ethic; \nStrong communication skills;\nAll instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).\nSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nMaintaining a safe and effective classroom environment;\nParticipating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings;\nParticipating in professional development as appropriate to the position;\nTeaching reading, English, social studies, science, math and computer skills;\nCreating and developing curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials;\nMonitoring and assessing students’ progress on a regular basis;\nCompleting other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nThis position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess oftwenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
