Responsibilities include training, leading, and supervising custodial staff; assigning and monitoring daily work activities; ensuring the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of College facilities; ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards, procedures, and codes; and supporting the safe, efficient, and effective operation of campus facilities.\nSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerforms daily supervision of all custodial full-time and part-time staff employees to ensure quality work is being performed; schedules employees; assigns tasks; ensures all custodial staff are properly trained on all cleaning equipment; and troubleshoots any problems they might have.\nPrepares employee appraisal evaluations.\nPrepares annual equipment budget requests; orders equipment and supplies.\nVerifies employees time sheets for the Department.\nApproves submitted Department leave forms.\nMakes recommendations for improvements or changes in Department operations.\nBacks-up employees when necessary.\nTravels to any campus locations to assist with various site needs.\nCompletes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:\nAssociate degree; five (5) years of related work experience in custodian supervision; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.\nKnowledge of custodial operations including building and floor cleaning techniques and operation of all types of floor maintenance equipment.\nKnowledge of supervisory skills and methods.\nKnowledge of general custodial responsibilities and safe use of cleaning chemicals.\nSkill in applying custodial techniques and using equipment.\nSkill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.\nSkill in organizing, leading others, training, and prioritizing.\nAbility to be flexible, use initiative, be efficient, give directions, work independently as well as with others, be self-motivated, and supervise others.\nValid Florida driver’s license.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThis position classifies the physical exertion requirements as medium work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.\nADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:\nRequirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures.
