Performs routine laboratory and general technical tasks necessary for daily operation of instructional laboratories. Collects, prepares, cleans, and stores glassware and other lab equipment. Stocks and prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions and stains. Maintains records and files.\nSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPrepares reagents and solutions specific to the science area assigned, using established standards.\nSets up laboratory for science lab experiments and exercises; distributes and arranges equipment, models and other related material.\nAssists in the operation and maintenance of instructional labs.\nParticipates in the planning and implementation of exercises and experiments.\nImplements new or modified policies and procedures.\nPrepares special instructions for non-routine and complex assignments,\nComplies with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.\nCompletes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent, and completion of at least one college-level science laboratory course,\nKnowledge of basic laboratory safety protocols,\nEffective oral and written communication skills,\nExperience or ability to work with, troubleshoot, and maintain assigned equipment,\nAbility to be accurate and detailed oriented, use sound judgement, multi-task, be people oriented, and work independently as well as with others.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThis position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light work involving lifting no more than 25 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
