This role requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills who thrives in a collaborative team environment and can provide technical mentorship.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, implement, and test new system-level firmware features\n\nOptimize system resources and video data paths based on product use cases\n\nIntegrate new image and video processing capabilities (e.g., warping, computer vision) from algorithm teams\n\nDevelop and maintain embedded applications on SoCs\n\nIntegrate indie’s camera processor with various system hosts and third-party middleware\n\nCreate and maintain tools for customers and developers\n\nSupport system bring-up and debug customer systems and issues\n\nRequirements\nAt indie, we value Creativity, Ownership, and Excellence. We believe everyone contributes to our success, and we recognize that no candidate is perfect-this role is designed to challenge you and support your growth.\nMinimum 4 years of embedded software development experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience\n\nStrong C programming and debugging skills in RTOS environments\n\nExperience solving real-time embedded issues, including threading, optimization, memory management, and interrupt handling\n\nFamiliarity with the full software development lifecycle\n\nWorking knowledge of Python for scripting\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\n\nNote: indie does not require Canadian work experience as a condition of employment.\nPreferred / Differentiating Skills\nExperience working with Board Support Packages (BSPs)\n\nUnderstanding of I2C, UART, SPI, and Ethernet protocols\n\nWorking knowledge of heterogeneous multi-core systems\n\nSoftware development experience in automotive or other safety-critical industries\n\nKnowledge of AUTOSAR systems\n\nFamiliarity with cryptographic authentication, hashing and encryption algorithms, and secure key storage technologies\n\nCompensation Transparency: In accordance with Ontario pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this role is: CAD $90,000 - $130,000 per year, plus benefits, bonus and equity where applicable.
