Following a transition period of approximately two years, Indra will serve as the sole provider across the network that includes more than 8,500 buses, nearly 400 Underground stations, around 300 rail stations (Overground, DLR, Elizabeth Line and suburban services), 4,000 Oyster Card outlets, seven customer service centres, and 24 river boat boarding points.\nDrawing on over 30 years of experience in urban public transport solutions, Indra will manage and evolve all aspects of the system. The project also envisages, in partnership with TfL, the implementation of new technologies to develop the system, make it more efficient and automate key processes; in short, to jointly create the next generation of the ticketing system for London.\nRole overview\nSystems Engineer\nAs we continue to deliver complex technology and integration programmes, we are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is responsible for the analysis, design, integration, and delivery of complex systems, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements, technical standards, and project objectives.\nWorking closely with customers, project managers, software and hardware engineers, and other technical stakeholders, the Systems Engineer will play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements capture and solution design through to integration, verification, validation, and deployment.\nKey Duties Include:\nLead requirements analysis, capture, and decomposition activities for complex integration projects, facilitating customer workshops and stakeholder engagement. \nAnalyse, design, and document cost-effective technical solutions that meet customer, business, and project requirements. \nProduce systems engineering documentation, including system architectures, functional designs, interface specifications, statements of work, integration strategies, and technical artefacts. \nDevelop requirements that are fully traceable to customer, business, and solution objectives using established systems engineering methodologies. \nSupport system integration, verification, validation, and qualification planning throughout the project lifecycle. \nContribute to technical proposals, project estimates, and Statements of Work (SoW) for new and existing opportunities. \nProvide systems engineering input into project planning, scheduling, and risk management activities. \nCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to ensure successful project delivery. \nParticipate in technical reviews, customer presentations, and meetings with clients and subcontractors. \nPromote engineering best practice, quality standards, and continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering function. \nKeep up to date with emerging technologies, industry standards, and systems engineering methodologies to support innovation and continuous improvement. \nTravel domestically and internationally, where required, to support project delivery and customer engagement. \nEnsure compliance with company policies, quality standards, security requirements, and health, safety, and environmental procedures. \nSupport wider engineering initiatives and undertake additional duties as reasonably required. \nRequirements\nEssential Requirements\nQualifications\nDegree in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience. \nPrevious experience working as a Systems Engineer on complex integration or technology projects. \nDemonstrable experience in systems engineering across the full project lifecycle. \nExperience in requirements analysis, decomposition, and management using structured systems engineering methodologies. \nStrong understanding of system architecture, solution design, and systems integration. \nExperience with software interfaces and APIs, including HTTP/S, REST, and JSON. \nKnowledge of verification, validation, and system testing principles. \nExperience working with customers and managing technical stakeholders. \nExcellent technical documentation and presentation skills. \nDesirable Requirements\nExperience within transport, ticketing, automated fare collection, or other large-scale infrastructure environments. \nExperience using requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS. \nKnowledge of UML, Enterprise Architect, or other model-based systems engineering tools. \nExperience working within Windows and UNIX/Linux environments. \nAwareness of ITIL, systems lifecycle management, and industry best practice. \nINCOSE certification, ITIL certification, or a relevant postgraduate qualification. \nSkills and Personal Attributes\nStrong analytical and structured problem-solving skills. \nExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to engage at all levels. \nAbility to influence multidisciplinary teams and build collaborative working relationships. \nCommercial awareness with an understanding of balancing technical excellence and business objectives. \nSelf-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. \nMethodical approach with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality. \nAdaptable, quick to learn new technologies, and committed to continuous professional development. \nWillingness to travel in support of project and customer requirements. \nBenefits\n Holidays: 25 days per annum + 8 days bank holidays (options to buy/sell days) \nPension -
