This role provides classroom instruction, hands-on training, technical evaluations, and certification support to ensure personnel meet applicable safety, workmanship, and naval maintenance standards. Responsibilities include curriculum development, qualification tracking, equipment oversight, and continuous improvement of technical training programs.\nWhat You'll Do\nDevelop and deliver technical training programs covering welding, brazing, shipboard fundamentals, safety procedures, maintenance practices, and equipment operation.\nProvide classroom instruction and hands-on training using current instructional materials, practical demonstrations, and real-world applications.\nMaintain an effective learning environment that promotes professionalism, discipline, engagement, and technical proficiency.\nAdminister, grade, and evaluate examinations and practical assessments, including remedial instruction and assignments as needed.\nReview training materials and recommend curriculum updates to align with current industry requirements and naval standards.\nTrain students and shipboard personnel on applicable safety requirements, standard maintenance procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment.\nInspect and troubleshoot welding and brazing equipment to identify repair requirements, necessary materials, and estimated repair timelines.\nIdentify and resolve technical issues, providing recommendations to management for review and approval.\nMaintain accurate welding and brazing qualification records, including initial certifications, requalifications, quarterly updates, and examinations.\nEnsure compliance with applicable safety requirements and procedures within training and shop environments.\nMaintain working knowledge of applicable naval welding and brazing standards, including:Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)\nMIL-STD-22D\nMIL-STD-1689A\nS9074-AQ-GIB-010/248\n074-AR-GIB-010/278\nNAVSEA 0900-001-700\nS9086-CH-STM-010/074, Volumes 1 and 3\nWP-278, WP-1698, BP-7000\nMIL-STD-2035\nT9074-AS-GIB-101/271\n\nConduct quarterly self-assessments, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions following internal reviews or official audits.\nAssist with the maintenance, utilization, accountability, and inventory of departmental tools and equipment.\nBid and proposal support if requested.\nOther duties as assigned.\nWhat You Bring\nRequired Qualifications:\nAn active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.\nHigh school diploma or GED\n\nMinimum ten (10) years of hands-on welding and brazing experience aboard naval vessels.\n\nMust hold or be able to obtain the following welding and brazing certifications:\nShielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW): 6G P-73 and 4F/5F P-14 carbon steel weld tests.\n\nGas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW): 4F/5F P-14 and 6G P-73 carbon and stainless steel weld tests.\n\nBrazing: Vertical and horizontal Grade III, IV, and V brazing tests.\n\nWorkmanship: Applicable welder and brazer workmanship certifications.\n\nMust possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills. \nDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills. \nDemonstrated problem-solving skills. \nMust possess strong time management skills. \nMust be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.\nWork Environment and Physical Requirements\nAbility to remain seated for approximately 50% of the workday.\n\nAbility to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking as required to perform job duties.\n\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe expected base pay rate for this position is $29.27 per hour.
