Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide direct supervision and support to program employees and volunteers via on-site presence and routine check-ins. Being responsible for program oversight, working in collaboration with Indwell’s leadership to uphold the organization’s mission, vision and values. This position will require a high level of resilience and a willingness to work in close proximity to challenging situations. To learn more, go to: indwell.ca/our-model \n Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required to meet program needs, which can include evening and weekend hours with some public holidays. As the program operates 7 days a week, being on-call for 1 week every 4-6 weeks is required to support the tenants and the team. The on-call rotation consists of carrying a work cell phone 24/7 for that one week, responding to urgent needs. \nWHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: \nSupervising and supporting an interdisciplinary team of employees as assigned, providing leadership and direction. Conducting and documenting regular check-ins with staff and completing employee performance evaluations\nMonitoring and leading healthy team dynamics, and the development and maintenance of positive, professional team culture. Responsive to the care, culture and competence needs of staff\nParticipating and leading the staff recruitment process as needed, in collaboration with Program Manager and the Human Resources Team\nOverseeing a thorough onboarding and orientation process for new employees, students, and volunteers\nCollaborating and communicating with the Program Manager to identify and problem solve around gaps in systems and processes\nCoordinating and performing on-call responsibilities as required\nEnsuring consistent and clear direction to program staff around maintaining and protecting resident health records\nCreating and providing a program schedule for employees\nImplementing ongoing evaluation of the program to ensure effective service to residents\nSupporting roll-out of new assessment tools to program staff and residents\nParticipating and contributing to relevant Cross Regional Teams\nLeading, attending and actively involved in team meetings and other agency meetings as required\nKeeping apprised of new research and developments relevant to your role, through workshops, journals, websites and literature, transferring knowledge back to the team and residents in the most effective manner available\nOverseeing the intake process for new residents and supporting the team with coordinating move-ins and resident welcome\nDeveloping and maintaining relationships with community and health partners to support the team and residents in connecting to community resources and supports\nLeading, coordinating and/or participating in case conferences with outside supports\nComing alongside the staff and residents in care planning to achieve their goals balancing support with resident empowerment and independence\nApplying evidence-based practice, influencing policy and program development, identifying relevant and appropriate trauma informed care that promotes hope and trust\nReviewing Landlord Tenant Board process, as needed, in collaboration with the Program Manager, and representing Indwell at possible hearings\nSupporting the team / staff responses to resident complaints/concerns\nFostering positive team relations with Indwell facilities staff regarding program maintenance and unit turnovers\nAdministrative responsibilities such as rent collection, intake and discharge planning\n\nHealth, Welfare and Safety Practices \nMaintaining a safe and healthy working environment\nUsing appropriate procedures when responding to emergency situations\nUpholding organizational policy and procedures\nAttending and participating in all required training to maintain and develop new skills\nOther duties as required\n\nWHAT YOU WILL BRING: \nDiploma or degree in social work, social service work, nursing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience\n2 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a social service setting\nExperience working in mental health and/or addictions is beneficial with harm reduction approaches to substance use\nRecent Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with the information therein acceptable by Indwell to meet the operational requirements of the program- at one’s own cost\nCurrent First Aid & CPR Certification from an approved provider that meets Ontario provincial standards or willingness to register for the training within 30 days of employment-reimbursement by Indwell\nA client centered approach, using trauma-informed strategies to support residents\nA warm, sensitive and caring approach with a genuine interest in supporting a diverse population of people living with mental illness\nStrong communication, listening, interview and assessment skills, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities\nEffective crisis intervention and conflict management skills\nAbility to work effectively in a high stress environment, work independently, be flexible, organized, responsible and take initiative\nExcellent written, verbal, time management and organizational skills\nDemonstrated ongoing learning and experience around supporting diverse individuals and communities (i.e. cultural safety, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice, etc.)\nA commitment to interpersonal collaborative teamwork and care and continuous professional development\n\nWe want you to thrive: \nVacation: 3 weeks paid with 8 HEAL days (sick and personal appointments) per year\nExtensive Benefits paid: Extended health (100% medication coverage- some exceptions may apply), dental and vision care.
