We are currently looking for a Cost Engineering Manager to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.\nThe ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and lead a team of high-performing individuals.\nA Day in the Life:\nThe responsibilities listed are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties for this role. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed, to support business objectives.\nDepartment Performance including hiring, developing, training, and engaging a team of approximately 3-7 engineers.\n\nDevelop staff to be subject matter experts for their respective commodities.\n\nSet the vision and initiatives to improve vehicle profitability through part or commodity activities.\n\nIdentify cost-reduction opportunities and support their implementation through a variety of activities.\n\nEffectively represent the NCO department through a deep focus on the needs of the customer through ongoing communication, clarification of expectations, strong collaboration, and development of SMART objectives. This will require timely, accurate, transparent, and detailed (yet simplified) reporting to communicate an objective’s status to Executives, customers and peers.\n\nChallenge and support established budgets for Purchased Parts and Vendor Tooling of New Model Car Programs (Minor Model and Full Model Change) in the Americas region during the product development phase and past start of production.\n\nDrive consistency and continuous improvement within the country, NAFTA region and globally by creating and/or leading cross-functional or intra-departmental projects.\n\nWho We’re Looking for:\nRequired:\n5+ years of direct experience, which should include a minimum of 2 years in a management role.\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, or related discipline.\n\nUnderstanding of vehicle commodities, their costs, each cost element, and part manufacturing processes, plus a strong financial acumen.\n\nDesired:\nMBA or other advanced degrees strongly preferred.\n\n3-7 years or experience in seating and/or soft trim components and/or cockpit module.\n\n3-7 years of experience in manufacturing process such as plastic injection, steel stamping, die casting, painting, chrome plating.\n\nFamiliarity with estimating software or programming skills.\n\nPrevious experience in a costing department from a supplier and/or OeM.\n\nExcellent written and oral communication skills to senior executive audiences.\n\nAbility to work across functions/countries while influencing the business for long-term strategies.\n\nStrong analytical aptitude and data-driven problem-solving abilities.\n\nWhat You’ll Look Forward to at Nissan:\nCareer Growth and Continuous Learning Opportunities: Benefit from diverse career paths, cross-departmental moves, and innovative learning platforms.
